I recently discovered my greatgrandparents lived in Lowell prior to moving to Chicago in the 1880s. They are John MC DERMOTT (born Ireland) and Phoebe (Pheba) WRIGHT (born Canada or Wales). They were both born c.1862.
In the 1880 census Phoebe was living with the SWANN family as a servant. John was living with his family and working in the mills. Other MC DERMOTTS in his family were:
John MCDERMOTT, father b.1838 Ireland
Catherine, mother b.1839 Ireland
James b. 1866 Mass.
Michael b.1869 Mass.

He was a weaver by trade and moved frequently between Belgium and France and
eventually sent his sons to Philadelphia to work and send home money.
My question is, would there be any ship records of his arrival/departure in
MA for this trip? Would there be any other records sho
