Hey guys
I have hardly anything on this family.
Alfred Howard Simmons b. 1861 in Plymouth. Son of George Washington
Simmons and Sarah Brown Shaw. He married Idella Harden.
I don't know anything about her except that at the time of the 1880 Census,
Idella was at State School in Lancaster, Worcester.
They had the following children:
1. Charles Howard b. 1890. Married Miriam Willett.
2. Harold Bertrand b. 1895
3. Edith b. 1896
4. Ethel b. 1896
5. Earl Clifford b. 1899

While it is simpler to trace a lineage thru a male surname, such as
Lincoln, (see below), it can be most rewarding, and also fruitful for
making connections, if one can trace the wives of a particular family
line. For instance, a trace of the Hanks family, (Nancy H. was the
mother of Abraham Lincoln) indicates she is a descendant of William the
Conqueror. William, thru his wife Maud (or Matilda) was also the common
ancestor of George Washington and of Winston Churchill.
I have found that in general
I hope you dont mind my sharing this with my Massachusetts Bay

hi,
i am doing this research because my house sits upon what was once BARDEN
land. i live in the Barden Hills section of M'Boro.
i've traced our home/early land back to Scot BARDEN, son of John BARDEN &
Hannah CHAMBERLAIN. the deed i'm referring to was transferred (from Scot B.) in
1848.
before that deed (as well as that deed itself) , they no longer mention
previous deeds. thus, i have all of the deeds scot has bought/inherited ... and
hope to find a link between our land and the once BARDEN lan
I am trying to locate a family history book for the James Keith who was the
first minister of Bridgewater who came to America about 1662. I am looking
for a history that might follow his descendents through to Maine and
Illinois. I am especially interested in Hampden Keith who was born in 1776
in Bridgewater and married to a Sally who was born in 1772. They relocated
to Vassalboro, Maine about 1800 or so and I am following the line of
Hampdens son Howard C. Keith who first moved to Michigan and then to

The Boston Public Library does not list any newspapers published in Whitman
in any year, and doesn't list any papers published in Abington in that
period. The most likely source for the article would be the Brockton Daily
Evening Enterprise and Brockton Times, now called, s

She was dau. of George Vaughan and Elizabeth Hincksman (NEHGR 6:347; MD 18:115-117; TAG 23:24-26), bp. 31-May-1657 at Scituate with two brothers (NEHGR 57:85). She and her husband are named in her father's will (MD 18:115-117).

Hello,
I wanted to add this info to my previous questions about the BARDENs of
Middleboro (MA). It does give me the date of immigration (1638). Thus, either his
b/day is earlier than I heard, or he travelled as a child.

Can anyone tell me the locations (with directions) of cemeteries in E. Wareham/Agawam Neck and as well, "Marshfield Hills Cemetery" and "Webster Cemetery" both in Marshfield?
I'll be in the area next week and am trying to find locations of the cemeteries I have to visit to save me some time. I've checked the rootsweb Tombstone Project for MA already.

Hi All
One more post for today.
In a Whitman paper, there was a story in April 1951.(we think this is
correct). The headline was something along the lines of

MacArthur was ordered home from Korea by the President.
The story was also about my husband's uncle's dog. Warren Simmons had lost
Trey at the Cape so I am told and it took him a week to find his way home.

It is "West St." West St. is very short - it is a continuation to
the east of Beal St., and runs from the intersection of North St. east to
the point where Fort Hill St. becomes South St.

Use "Mapquest" on the internet. I use street number 100 for a

Frank -
I am not aware of any book treating all the branches of Keith descendants.
About Hampden Mitchell says:

Thanks to those who answered my post this morning.
To the questions raised - I have found mention of a family of Oakmans buried at "Marshfield Hills" and two Thomas people buried at the "Webster Cemetery". (Source: "Old Cemeteries of Southeastern Massachusetts")
Further on the Webster cemetery - two inscriptions from this cemetery came from NEHGR which cited "From the Burial Ground on the Hill, Sometimes Called Winslow Burial Ground" - however the previously mentioned source calls it the Webster Cemeter

I have a copy of the 1880 census for my family in Plymouth and on the
left side of the page is listed "Bates Street". I can not find this
street listed on anything I have. I've been through the 1905+ Poll Tax
Books, some early Town Reports and several of Wm. Davis Books published
in 1883 and 1885 finding no listing. Does anyone have any idea where
this street may have been?
Thanks in advance

Dear Listers:
If you are fortunate to have any Lincoln's in your
genealogy you wonder if you might connect to "honest
abe" LIncoln. Well, if you have the connections to
Edward Lincoln and Bridget Gilman of England you can.
If you connect to their son Samuel Lincoln who married
Martha Lyford, you can. If you connect through their
son Mordecai Lincoln who married Sarah Jones, you can.
Pres. Abraham Lincoln did not descend through Thomas.

Author George Lincoln speaks of a Water Works Company on South Street in
Hingham when he published in 1898. My question is, where was (or is)
the Company? a) in the village of Hingham; b) the village of West
Hingham; c) or the village of Hingham Center? If one does not know
about the distinction of villages of the past, and the Water Works still
exists, can someone tell me the nearest street intersection with South

Many thanks for your help.
