Hi Peg-
I tried to find people who were there in 1909, and the person I spoke with said that they only have records from the 1930s on. However, I did get the impression that it might have been a brush-off answer, a quick way to get rid of me. So if you find out anything different, please post here. Thanks.
Sandy

Hi Listers -
Just watched the news, where they said the fire was
determined to have been accidental, starting in the
kitchen.
My husband was stuck in the traffic yesterday, and
couldn't figure out what was on fire, until he finally
arrived at the site. He went back later around 6.30
and it was still burning. I haven't gone by yet - too
sad.
Yes, we don't have town water so no fire hydrants here.
[well there are a few on rte 140 but they are hooked up
to Hopedale's water]
It was a really great place

Hi Theresa,
I didn't forget you.
I went to the Mass Archives in Dorchester and looked in the index and did not
find him.
I then went to the Northbridge Town Clerk and looked at the index of 1904. I
looked at a few years before and after and did not find him.
I wish you luck,

HI List,
Is there anyone on this list that can tell me anything, anything at all,
about St. Ann's Orphanage that was in existence in 1900. I found it on a census
while searching our family.
Thank you in advance.

Is there anyone on the list that could check some burials at

Need the complete date for death/burial of Robert LAMOTHE,

Need complete date for death/burial for Joseph A. DUMAS

Need complete date for death/burial for Michael DUMAS (born

This is a great web site - thanks for sending it.
One of the messages said the address was 133 Granite St.
If that is correct, located there today is
Guild Of St Agnes Day Care
Address: 133 Granite St, Worcester, MA 01604
Phone: (508) 756-8371
Maybe someone there knows something about the history
of the building.
Also, contact the Diocese of Worcester - someone there
can probably give you information on where the records
are located or the years that the orphanage was open.

Did you know...
The Worcester Public Library is in the process of INDEXING all births,
deaths and marriages that were printed in the Worcester Evening Post
newspaper, starting in 1897. The names and pertinent data are listed in
alphabetical order and posted on the internet, at no cost. You don't need a
library card to search the list.
The first 6 months of 1897 are now finished. I recognize two of the
surnames that people on this list had previously inquired about: TWISS and
DORAN.

I do not have access to the 1930 US census so was unable to place this FRED
TAYLOR family at 26 Institute Road.
This seems to be the best candidate for the photograph however.

Hello Worcester List.
My aunt, MRS. FRANK SLEEPER, in going through some of her late husband's
papers found some photos that were either unidentified or were not part of our
family.
My RUSSELL family lived in Worcester from about 1838 to the present and would
like to at scan some of these pictures for descendants if any who might be
subscribed to this list. I will share what each photo has written on back.

I was skimming the local papers in the Worcester area this a.m. and
found to my dismay Lowell's is gone in Mendon, Mass.
I've only eaten there a few times, but it was delicious....all New
England food is good to me since I haven't been there in several years.
Anyways, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette and the Metro West Daily News
(Framingham) have some very good articles about it's history. I accessed
them on-line.
I scream for ice-cream too :-)))

FRANK SLEEPER 1862 - 1937 was the son of an early Coaticook settler. As a
young man his inventive genius became apparent when he designed and built a
generator to service the first electric power plant in Coaticook in 1888.
More famous was his invention of a lifting jack.
This device held such promise of success that the patent was purchased by a
local businessman, A. O. NORTON. The latter took over the SLEEPER
