3. Re: [MAWORCES] NEHGS [1]
I'm so glad you had an answer for Shirley. I joined the NEHGS about 6 months back and receive their newsletter which had that announcement. Their on line site recently broke two major brick walls for me. They have been uploading images of vital records with amazing speed the last couple of months. I got to see the marriage record of my great great grandparents who married in Milford, Worcester Co., Mass in 1853. The record had both their fathers names on it. It was for Peter McNamara and Catherin

7. Re: 1825 small pox epidemic [1]
Hello, Just a reminder that a large percentage of the Native American population was "wiped out" by the many "diseases" .. which "the white man" (i.e., English explorers) brought with them to North America ! (Actually and also to South America !) This went on from the 1600's right on through the 1700's ! The generally called "Indian Wars" went on for almost a century, both in the U.S. and in Canada ! Here are web sites which offer an opinion on one aspect of "small pox" in regards to the Nativ

10. Re: [MAWORCES] New England Historical and Genealogical Register [1]
Pg. 337 middle mentions will of Joan Parker. Joan Parker of St. Savior, Southwark, Surrey, in her will written 24 August 1674, proved in 1675, mentions many relatives named Parker, and gives her brother "Henry Curtis of Sudbury in New England, to his wife, and 3 sons Ephraim, John and Joseph," each 20 shillings, also to her said brother, her little silver tankard and six silver spoons.

Hi Margy...I participated in the survey and accessed NEGHR...when I tried to return a second time, it was necessary to take the survey again in order to sign on. when I tried to sign on a third time, I had to take the survey yet again. It seems to me that this system is not conducive to productive survey results Am I missing something? I can't find an alternative means to signing on. 18. City Directory 1901-03 [1]
I'd appreciate a lookup in the Worcester City Directory if anyone has a copy. I'm looking for William J. WHYTE, a painter, between 1901-03. He was (maybe) the husband of Mary A. CASSIDY (she was reportedly born in Worcester) and the father of Robert Edward WHYTE, born in Worcester in 1902 and possibly orphaned or given up by the family. Mary A. Cassidy was listed on the birth record as Robert's mother. Robert WHTYE lived with the KEANE family in Boston by 1910 and later changed his name to KEANE. I'm curio

21. Re: [MAWORCES] 1825 small pox epidemic [1]
Jean - I've been looking all over the place, and I can't find a thing on smallpox in 1825 in Massachusetts. I learned something I wasn't aware of though, "The smallpox vaccine was first mandatory in Massachusetts back in 1809 for everyone." at this site http://www.drugstudy.md/newslet16.html This next page of definitions http://www.osv.org/learning/DocumentViewer.php?DocID=1127 mentions that Town Selectman could regulate travel during an epidemic. That made me think something might be found in the rec
22. DRURY Family Photograph [1]
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Harriet DRURY which was taken at the Bergroth Studio in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The photograph appears to have been taken sometime between 1920-1940 with Harriet appearing to be in her 20's or 30's at the time. Based on limited research I believe that this may be a photograph of Harriet DRURY b. 5 Oct 1907 at Fitchburg, MA to parents Leon Arthur DRURY and Daza Page MOWRY. Harriet married Robert S. ANDREWS and died 6 Feb 1995 at Fitchburg, MA. The photograph was reco
