I was going to add this comment to my prior message but decided it might be
too promising - but my line seems to use the same given names down thru the
generations - the Irish naming pattern. Gets kind of confusing sorting out
all the different Johns, Jesses, Ma
I think the James stayed in NY. Sue

I have an article that states that William Maxwell went from Pittsburgh to Lexington, Ky. where he set up his press before going to Cincinnati. The article is "Antecedent Experience in Kentucky of William Maxwell, Ohio's First Printer" by Douglas C. McMurtrie.
I am not related to William My brickwall of Maxwell is Agnes who married John Blackburn about 1745 in York County, Pa.

if my information is right, those Maxwells produced 18 sons all together,
starting with my father and going back to the last James. I know all of the
descendants of the living ones going back to Robert Alexander, but know
nothing of descendants before that- maybe that is the clue I have to
research. Who is alive, that is a descendant of Alexander, James and James?

the oldest man in my line for sure, is James Maxwell, married to a Barbara,
born about 1781 in Albany; we think his father is a James that came over
from Scotland, but the info is based on a relative that told my great aunt
that he was descended from one of the last Jame's sons. My line goes- me-
Robert Hamilton Maxwell, Robert Reginald Maxwell, Robert Alexander Maxwell,
Alexander Maxwell, James and James. The families that married into the line,
that I know of are Blankman, Hamilton, Lawrence, Beach,

Dear Robin,
I am from Tyrone and get there once a year at Memorial
Day time. If you are still looking for Robert Maxwell
info by then, I will look him up in the library
genealogy section. I have the two Tyrone of Today
books and don't see him in the early days, but it is
not indexed so hard to find individual names. They had
700 population when Tyrone was incorporated in 1857.
If they were around in those parts for a long time you
should look in Bedford County records. Blair County
was taken from Bedford Co

In the James household there is Margaret 46, Robert 23, Hannah M. 17,
William 15, Sarah A. 12, Emiline 9 and James 2.

Hello Kathy,
Thank you SO MUCH! The clues that stand out to me are the given names
Margaret, John and Joseph. Joseph was my grandfather, and he had a sister
named Margaret and a brother named John. Of course, I realize these are all
common names, but believe it has some possibilities. I have printed off
your information and will go over it carefully. I feel this could be the
family of My Elizabeth. The census records I took her information from gave
a different age each year, but stayed within the b
you might write to Earl Maxwell at emaxwell@wvhome.net as his mother
knows alot about the Maxwells, and he is a descendant of the one I

if you look back to some messages from last night, you will see my Maxwells-
but I doubt that there is a connection. These are all New Yorkers- my
husband and I are both Maxwells by birth and his are from W Va and mind NY-
I just never seem to find any relatives beyond the ones I know. Sue
