5. Crew of the Mayflower - GSMD membership? [1]
I've had a few emails asking whether or not descendants of the crew members can be counted among "Mayflower descendants" for membership in the society. Good question! I went right to the expert - Bette Bradway, Historian General, and the answer is no. Our ancestors boarded the Mayflower for the express purpose of leaving their homeland, settling a new country and starting new lives. The crew members did not plan to emigrate, they signed on to the Mayflower and it was just another job to them. Susan E.

7. Fwd[Ma-Bay-Colony] questions? Rebecca Bangs/Jonathan Sparrow [1]
Dear Christie, Please take a deep breath, and understand that you (and the alligator) are both correct, but talking about two very different women named Rebecca Bangs who happen to be 3 generations apart. Both are daughters of Edward Bangs, but one is the immigrant, and the other his grandson. If not an apology, you at least owe some kind words of misunderstanding regarding your analysis of the Message posted to MA-BAY-COLONY :-). 14. Re: [MFLR] Fwd[Ma-Bay-Colony] questions? Rebecca Bangs/Jonathan Sparrow [1]
OK, since this is in my tree, too, I'll weight in. Rebecca Bangs died after July 9, 1665 (Barbara Lambert Merrick (compiled by), "William Brewster of the Mayflower," General Society of Mayflower Descendants, Revised 3rd edition 2000, p. 28.) She was married to Jonathan Sparrow and had six children (same source). The Rebecca Bangs Lucy cites below was BORN (according to her sources) Oct, 30, 1655. Christie's Rebecca Bangs was MARRIED 28 Oct 1654. They obviously are not the same woman. For whatever

20. Calendar Conversions [1]
Dear Rootsfolks, I just came across a situation where I had to find the date which corresponds to "the Thursday before 28 November 1801." So of course, I used my favorite calendar website http://calendarhome.com/tyc/original.html which allows you to convert/lookup, etc., every date, time, event, or change you can think of. Then it occurred to me (sometimes that happens, so please be kind!) that it might be useful to others. So here it is. By the way, 28 November 1801 was a Saturday, so Thursday was the

22. Hopkins line thru Nathan Kenney [1]
Some time ago we had a discussion going regarding the children of Nathan Kenney & Mercy Smith5 (Bethiah4 Snow, Stephen3, Constance2 Hopkins, Stephen1). According to MF 6:255 (3rd ed.), only one child, John, has been proven, the others have all had question marks. As a state Historian, I have tried unsuccessfully in recent years to have these other children recognized - until now. I recently sent a proposal to the Historian General, Bette Bradway, including copies of several printed sources, by top geneal

Hi here is a link to my web page where I detail the facts that show Mary and Patience are indeed children of Elizabeth Soule.
