Between 1800-1840 up to 30 vessels, mostly brigs and schooners were built in this little port. The main bilders were the Conways, McCreelys and Thomas Gelston.

Killyleagh Presbyterian Graveyard n memory of James McCLeery, Ballywoolen, who died 16th November1861. Also his wife Catherine McCLeery who died 11th May 1892. And James McCleery, Ballywoolen, who died 3rd May 1922 aged 73 years. Also Annie McCleery, the beloved wife of John McCleery, who died 12th April 1931 aged 64 years.
