4. Re: [MCGEHEE] Knew it was inevitable [1]
Why would you think Richard L. doesn't belong in this group? More than likely the connection is back in the late 1700's someplace based on a 37 marker match. I think all of us at this 37 marker exact match, can trace back to TN or NC early 1800's; so why would you think that just because Richard stayed in TN and didn't go to IL or MO that he wouldn't belong in this group? Linda Since all match on 37 and we don't know about the 67 yet then why does everyone think all these families are connected clos

7. Re: [MCGEHEE] DNA Results [0.978894]
Lori, Your DNA donor could be Don's brother, and still be 1 marker off, including the 12-marker set. First, and foremost, DNA matches and near-matches imply a common ancestor. Then, it's purely statistical when a near-match branch could have occurred. FTDNA has their calculator you can use to determine "how far back" this takes us. From what I see, FTDNA says there's a 95.27% probability of a common ancestor within the last 8 generations. There's a 71.86% probability within the last 4 generations. Dave

Yes and don't forget to look for Solomon in Smith Co where he was 1820/30/40 with sons Nathan and others before going to Overton. Plus he is on 1810 for Dickson Co with son Micajah. So we have a Solomon b 1775 on 1850 and then b 1763 on 1860. Forgot the ages on the Smith Co TN census. maybe you can do that one too. Cela is either b 1802 or 1809 depending on which census. This includes the lines of Dave and Judy, Elizabeth, Jack's cousin, Lori, etc. I show your line at a distance of -2 at 37 markers to this small group we are trying to pull together. Would love, later on, to include those at distance 1 and 2; but trying to concentrate on exact matches only at this time. Hopefully the pending 67 markers will tell us more. This is what I have to do as well. Here is my thought. As I said in an earlier email - I have accounted for all my line back to 1780, unless there is a mistake somewhere - which I cannot rule out. I think that if I could figure out where my James was born and who his father was that would point to a lot of the answers I need. I would suspect that my James was a brother to whoever Joseph Daniel's father was, and likely he was a brother to whoever Richard's father was. This would explain the DNA conecti
