Dear Fellow Researchers: I have searched and searched the Maryland Death Index to no available and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone on this list can help me. I am looking for the death date of Lillian Engleman Deckelman b. about Jan 1873 and d. bet 1930-1940???. Her husband was John F. Any and all help w
4. Re: [MD-CEM] WHITE Family Cemetery, Kent Island - How to Save? [1]
Debbie: Actually MD law is much better than many other states in regard to what a property owner can and cannot do to a cemetery, abandoned or otherwise. Of course this doesn't mean that people or groups will actual obey the law or even know about it, but the laws are there. 1. How do I make sure the stones aren't removed as > an abandoned cemetery? 4. To protect a cemetery from illegal looting of human remains and associated funerary objects: Article 27, Section 267A, provides that any person who know

Hi Debbie, I don't have WHITE in my ancestry, but am wondering if you still have access to that book and if you do and it is convenient for you, would you please consider looking for and SOLLOWAY/SALLOWAY/SALWAY that may be listed in the book the next time you are at the library. Thank you, Janet in KCMO

Here's a list of people buried in the White Family Cemetery on Kent Island, MD. This list was copied from a book in the Queen Annes County Library in Stevensville, MD. I have more info on how these people fit together and their descendents if anyone is interested. Debbie WHITE FAMILY CEMETERY Walter K. 7. [MD-CEM] Right to Visti Cemetery on Private Property [1]
According to what the Coalition to Protect Maryland's Burial Sites has on their website (from the MD law): 7. To gain access to a cemetery located on private property: To facilitate access to a cemetery, Section 14-121 of the Real Property Article provides that any person in interest (as defined in the Section) may request the owner of a burial site or of the land encompassing a burial site, that has been documented or recognized as a burial site by the public or any person in interest, to grant reasonabl
8. [MD-CEM] WHITE Family Cemetery, Kent Island - How to Save? [1]
Hi Everyone, I'm hoping someone can give me some advice about saving a cemetery. Last summer I discovered about 20 family graves on a piece of property owned by a conservation organization on Kent Island. Some of the headstones were scattered and broken. It looks like no one has maintained the site in some time, it was very overgrown. My understanding is that a landowner can remove headstones from their property if the cemetery is considered abandoned. Another cemetery in Stevensville, MD has a whole

10. Re: [MD-CEM] WHITE Family Cemetery, Kent Island - How to Save? [1]
Debbie, I don't have any answers for you but am wondering if you have seen any of the names in stone at any of these cemeteries. I have many ancestors from my grandparents on back that lived on the Eastern Shore and I have never been able to find any cemetery records and very few death records on them. Kent Island, QA Co., Kent Co., Dorchester Co. is where they lived. I have one book of cemetery records but found one member there. You are to be commended on trying to help to restore old cemeteries

Have you attempted to contact the cemetery. The Baltimore cemetery has very good records and are very helpful. They found my gggrandmother and six of her children...no stones, just their records.

13. [MD-CEM] William HASLUP d 1814 and son William d 1845 AA County [1]
I am trying to locate the gravesites of William Haslup d. 1814 (m. Elizabeth Cadle) and his son William Haslup d. 1845 (m. Mary Ann White); both in AA County. There are a few Haslup Cemeteries that I know of, but they are not there; couldn't find them in the Savage Cemetery either. Both Williams lived at Food Plenty (near Savage) in the early 1800's. I think that William, Jr. and Mary Ann may have moved somewhere else in the area sometime after 1835 (but I'm not sure of this) and haven't been able to
