HI John....
I think I can give you a definitive answer here. Heinrich, Elisabeth, and
family appear under "Henry Gerdman" in Cumberland for the 1900 census...where,
wonderfully, women were asked how many children they'd had, and how many were
living as of that day. Elisabeth replied, "10, of which 8 are living." Here's
how they looked in 1900:

I finally found the Martin/Printz family in the Federal Census and so
wanted to try again to locate more information and hopefully connect
with another researcher who knows of the family. If anyone has access
the the 1880 Federal Census and can take a look at the children living
with John B. I'd love to hear your interpretation of the last child's name.
According to the Federal Census John B. MARTIN and Mary E. PRINTZ lived
in Cumberland with daughter Alice M. in 1870. John was 26 (b. 1844 in

Edie,
You indicated your Chaneys are from Washington Co. and you are trying to
connect them to the Cheneys of Anne Arundel Co.
I have a good bit of history on the Cheneys in Washington Co., starting with
Jeremiah Cheney's father, Charles Cheney. If your Thomas Cheney was the
same Thomas Cheney that was a nephew to Jeremiah, I can connect you
through Chancery Court papers of 1808, to the Anne Arundel Cheneys. Isaac

I ran across this from Charley Often's postings of excerpts from the

Subject: [MDALLEGA] Sad News
I think there are a lot of you who have visited the Garrett County
Historical Society Museum over the years, and received lots of help from the
most wonderful curator, Carol Davis.
Just need to pass on the very sad news that Carol passed away yesterday
This may help to fill in some of the blanks in the conversation the Jones' and I had at the Genealogical Society meeting this afternoon. Sorry I don't have their address.
David R. Reel married Adaline M. Spriggs dau. of Genevieve Moore and Raymond A. Spriggs. Adaline died April 8, 1987. Her mother, Genevieve, died Nov. 11, 2003. I've been looking for the book "History of Cumberland MD by William
Lowdermilk". I had decided I would buy that book but guess what? It's out of print
and I can't find it. Does anyone have a used one they would like to get rid of.
I thought I had one for $42 but when I finally got hold of the people they
didn't have it. It was advertized for between $200/300. I can't afford that
much. If anyone has the book and there is an index, would you let me know if
there is anything in it about DAVID, GEO

Gary Clites, do you know the first names of Mabel's Sister's. They are all
listed as MRS.with their husbands first name.
Linda,
Look the husband up in the 1880 or the 1900 census and see if a first name
of the wife is listed.
Sharon
Bill, along the same lines of Certificate of Birth vs. Birth
Certificates. I don't know exactly what you get if you order
a marriage record from Allegany County, MD, but if you order
a marriage record from Garrett County, MD you get a
Certificate of Marriage; meaning you get a certified copy
that the marriage is on record, not a copy of the marriage
certificate.
You get the date of the marriage, name of bride and groom,
and sometime the name of the person who officiated the
marriage ceremony.
