Where is that place today, The Great Swamp?
Try contacting the Maryland Archives. They have a newspaper collection and
would probably do a lookup. I believe there's an e-mail address on their web
site to use to contact them.
Jim,
I have done some research in the West River area - actually have friends
living there now. Don't know if anyone suggested the Maryland Archives
(link below) as they have a newspaper collection. I believe the Capital is
an Annapolis paper.

The kind folks at Anne Arundel County Library have located my uncle's obituary in the Annapolis Capital and are mailing it to me. Thanks for the name of the paper, Susan, and for the other suggestions from the list. Jim Boyce
I'll take a stab as someone who has driven the Baltimore-Washington
Parkway(295) too many times. My guess is the "Great Swamp" is the area
of wetlands that straddles both sides of the Parkway where the highway
crosses the Patuxent River just east of Laurel. The north side of the
Patuxent is in Howard County which in 1719 was part of Anne Arundel
county. Someone else might have more definitive information.
Happy Holidays

Hi,
Can anyone on the list help me locate an obituary for my uncle, James Arthur Davidson? He died in West Branch, MD on 22 April 1990.
Thanks very much.

There is a post on genforum 2002 below. If this person did a transcript,
maybe they took photos or has had contact with someone who has requested her

I am trying to locate pictures of the Gist family cemetery taken prior
to the vandalism reported in the Baltimore Sun (article below). Ask
anyone you know who might have pictures of this cemetery if I could have
a scan, .jpg, .gif or xerox of the item. Please send the picture in
whatever format available, to me at kschuh@jps.net.
Please pass this around to any and all who might be able to help spread
the word. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for several suggestions from the list. Unfortunately, my uncle's bio did not appear in the Sun ( I think Baltimore is just too far from small town West RIVER (and sorry, I did get the town's name wrong earlier), which is located on Chesapeake Bay south of Annapolis. An obit might have appeared in the Annapolis papers, but I don't know what they are.

I am seeking to locate a small plot of land called "Copper Hill" in 1829.
(probably purchased in 1780's) It is located next to the land of Eli Claggett.
Are there any good sources for maps that would show names of plots of land for
Anne Arundel County? Help from anyone who is familiar with this type of map
would be greatly appreciated.
It was left by Rachel Young of Baltimore to her son Jehu Young. Other sons
mentioned, include Denton Young (this Denton was the forebear of the baseball
