3. Re: [MDCECIL] Hans Gustafsson [1]
Liz, Found the following at FTM site. Notice the spelling for Paul's wife's maiden name, I would think that this spelling maybe closer to the correct spelling of the name than that of the one found in the transcribed church records. Shirley Middleton Moller Paul Gustafsson found in: Marriage Index: District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, & Virginia, 1740-1920 Married: Feb 04, 1714 County: New Castle State: DE Gender: Male More About: Record of this marriage may be found at the Family History

11. Re: [MDCECIL] MDCECIL Digest, Vol 1, Issue 71 [1]
Jo, Yes, that is my family. Edwin Nowland was my Great Grandfather. Edwin had 4 children - Alice, Robert, Manley and William. William died as an infant. It was actually Manley who married Della (Creswell) and those were my grandparents. I'm still not sure which house you are referring to, but it sounds like it was in the area where Edwin's sister Annie lived. She married a Walter Wood. Are those names familiar to you? Both Edwin and Mary may have lived there for a time, but I'm not sure. Alan ----

1693 CENSUS SWEDES ON THE DELAWARE, pg. 121, item #135 Olle Rosse (Rawson) (Naaman's Creek, Brandywine hundred #20): Among the soldiers arriving on the Eagle in 1654 was Olof Rase who was stationed at Fort Trinity (New Castle) when the fort was surrendered to the Dutch in 1655. Born in Sweden, Olof or Olle was variously identified as Raesen, Raessen, Rase, Rasson, Rausa, Raws, Rason, Roason, and Rosen in 17th century records. Probably variants of "resen" meaning "the giant" in Swedish. Olle Rawson was on
14. Re: [MDCECIL] MDCECIL Digest, Vol 1, Issue 68 [1]
This might be far fetched but here goes: My gg grandmother was Catherine ALEXANDER born in the Cecil Co. area about 1845. She married first, Reuben Bateman, probably in Cecil Co. but I can't find the record. This couple moved to NJ before 1865. After the death of Reuben, Catherine married Pernell S. Wilcutts [sometimes known as Wilcox]. It is said that Pernell was from Delaware. He was married first to Katie ? b. 1841 and whom he married bef 1858. Pernell and Katie Wilcutts had a son John Howar

The emigrations of the 1700's were mostly of Presbyterians and these folk were regarded as "troublesome" by the goverment of the day. The emigrations were neither offically

Thank you Shirley. I still think the surname is garbled... maybe the original church record had been damaged or hard to read. Is FHL number 0006418 a set of films of the original pages --or is this a film of another transcription, does anyone know? I checked Craig's "1671 Census of the Delaware" --nothing even close. Could someone maybe check the index in his 1693 book? Thanks, again, again, Liz J On 12/3/06, SHIRLEY MOLLER wrote: > Liz, > Found the following at FTM sit

I don't know what the protocol is on asking about names (whether it is preferable that I do it to the list or directly to you) so here goes - sent to both. Are there any Thomas or Richard Barnaby? Any James, Clement, Basil Sewell or Sewalls mentioned? Thank you for your attention. NT _jcntsmith@aol.com_ (mailto:jcntsmith@aol.com)
