This Eleanor Hawkins was the daughter of Thomas Hawkins and Sarah Middleton.
This is an abstract of Eleanor's will. I couldn't find any further estate
abstracts for her.

Thank you to those who wrote me stating Donnelly identified the William SMOOT (who died about 1753) with wife Eleanor as the son of William SMOOT and Ann PENN, and grandson of Thomas SMOOT and Elizabeth BARTON. The following would show her statement to be in error, and identify William who died about 1753 as the son of Barton SMOOT and wife Sarah (SMITH), widow of Henry HAWKINS, Jr., and still the grandson of Thomas SMOOT and Elizabeth BARTON.
Barton SMOOT in his will written 22 September 1744 and proved
Hi, Janet,
Thank you for that reference and transcript. Now I know the people
publishing on the net weren't just making things up!
Does the book give a reference for the statement that Martha Hoskins married
Thomas Stone before 26 May
1729?
After a rather quick look, I don't have a relevant document with that date.
It would be interesting to learn which one it is. The Thomas Stone usually
given as Martha's husband died before 7 Nov 1727 when his will was proved.

Dear List:
This is my semi-annual plea to reach anyone who might have any info on my

He was born circa 1758 probably in Charles or St. Mary's County MD, but
possibly in VA. (Ky Catholic Pioneers Rolling Fork Settlement lists the

Hello List,
I know this is not going to help with our finding out the maiden name
of Eleanor that married William Smoot.
But I recently found this info, and I thought I would put it out
because it fits with the topic.
What I thought was interesting is the last line. Specifically: Sarah,
d/o William Smith. Was this an error?
Is this Deed of Gift the Will that is being referred to here? Or is
there a Will?

Edward Philpott was born abt 1597 and married very late in life--around

were sold by one to the other. He evidently prospered. He probably married

There are a fair number of people in Nelson Co. descended from the
Marshalls of Marshall Hall. I've looked into them a little. It seems to me
that in one of her books, Elise Jourdan gave Elizabeth Marshall as the
Hawkins wife, and then in a later revision or correction questioned whether
she was old enough to be the mother of the Hawkins children. Must look into
that again. This just came up in my examination of the Hawkinses.

Hi Shirley,
You asked about the document concerning Alexander SMITH in 1688, and whether it was a deed of gift or will. You also asked about Elise Greenup Jourdan's abstracts and whether it was an error where she stated:

I have a bit of data on this family, also. If I have identified the correct
Benjamin Thomas as the son of George, Sr. Notice in the following power of
attorney that Benjamin states St George's was left to him by his father's

Benjamin's brother George, Jr. was left St George's in his father George

George Jr. Could these be the sons of George Jr?

Am I correct in assuming that the Will Books mentioned are those kept in La

Hi Norma,
Not sure if this will help other than naming Thomas Stone's wife, but...

Does anyone know which Hoskins was the wife of Thomas Stone?
How did Thomas Stone's children get to be siblings of the Hoskins children,

Any help or clues gratefully received!
I keep running into a snag in many little ways because I haven't recorded
correctly the family or the Hoskins relations of Thomas Stone, the son of
John Stone and Elizabeth Warren. (I don't know why John's first wife is

What I am actually searching for here is the name of the Eleanor, widow of
William Smoot, d. by 1753-54, Charles Co., m. by 1753-54, Benjamin Thomas, b.

Mrs. Eleanor (____) Smoot Thomas was indeed a Hawkins. Whatever her name, I
would be pleased for help in identifying her.

I am very interested in the reference of Zephaniah Brawner being a son of
Edward Brawner and Ann Franklin. Is there a source that proves Edward

Edward Brawner was the administrator of the estate of my ancestor, Noah
Franklin. I have always been left wondering what the connection between
Edward and Noah was. Perhaps they were brothers-in-law. I'd greatly
appreciate any help.
