You will have more success if you spell the name Melchior.

Beth,
If your Simon Knox lived in or near Friendsville/ Selbysport he could be buried in Addison, Somerset County, PA.
Before the Youghiogheny Reservoir was filled to full pool, The United States Corps of Engineers moved graves from
Selbysport, Guard, Mill Run, Geis, MD and Watsondale, Somerfield and other PA communities to the Addison cemetery. Graves were moved from private farm burial plots. there are plaques denoting the location of some of the graves. Example - 15 graves from Selbyspor

Thank you for your response. I do not recognize any of the FISHERS names you
posted. However, I will certainly save your letter "just in case". The first
Fisher I have is Augustus born in Cumberland.

Yes Sam. my great grand uncle and aunt are buried there. There were 9
children and Stephen Miller was one of my missing ones. It sure is a well
kept cemetery. I was pleasantly surprised to find it so. I live in S.E.
Virginia so it is especially nice when it works out that I actually find a
family member. I really appreciate those directions, if you hadn't said that
it was on top of the hill and not necessarily visible from the road I might
have missed it. I was there on Friday, we had a family reun

Regarding "The Bittinger . . . . and Their Kin -- of Garrett

able to

they used that number to locate it, and then did whatever was

I'd be interested in taking a look at the book.

Phyllis;
I think the Millers that you have are the descents of Melchoir Miller. Some
of those names look vaguely familiar to me now that I see them.
Unfortunately, I don't have much information on that particular Melchoir
Miller. He would have been a great-great-great Uncle of the Melchoir Miller
that I am related to through my mother. What little information I have on
him came from someone else on the list, so hopefully whoever had sent me the
information will also contact you.
Have a good labor d
Ralph,
There is a book that is available on film at the LDS center that is called: Descendants of Michael Beeghly and Barro Inken, published by W.G. BEEGHLY, 1978. I have copied a lot of the book but not marriage data for Sarah. Mary did have a sister Sarah but don't know if she is the Sarah that you are looking for.
Jacob MOSSER, Albert's uncle raised Albert after his father William died. Jacob was married a Beeghly also but she died very young.

Hello Edie:
I need to make a correction and an addition. First, I had Sarah Ellen
Lee's age wrong in the 1860 census. Now you'll note her three records
"jive".
Next, you'll recall you asked me to check the last two entries on page
60b of the 1850 Allegany County census to see if I thought the entry
could have been for Jacob and Rebecca Moon. The "Moon" surname is very
hard to make out and I said I couldn't be certain. Now I think it is
certain, as the Dwelling and Family Visit #'s are carried over to page
Bettie:
Is this based on Dr. Bittinger's article printed in the Casselman Historian,
or on your own research?

I finally got around to calling Carlton Knox' daughter. She says his father

I'll call her mother tomorrow.

Hmmmmm. I specifically asked about Simon, but was very hurried as it was our

Shades of Death was an area along the original National Pike, that was so
thickly forested that even in the day time, the Stage Coach drivers could
not see the Highwaymen laying in wait for them.
This area is located about 5 miles east of Grantsville. When I was a kid
there was a Turner Dairy farm located in the dip just before you got to the
Shades of Death. It's long since been torn down and deserted. So I cannot
give a better description of the location.

Thanks, Connie! I found Homer D. Custer and family under the Friend
page, but, can't find his grandfather's picture, David Custer. It used
to be on the Garrett pg. The section titled "Family photos" comes up
with just the heading. I assume it's just a matter of time until those
are posted again?????

Hi,
There are some excellent books with history of Church of the Brethren in
western MD. I'm away from home, but think one is Allegheny Passages and I
know there is another one. There is information on Bear Creek.
I came across these sources researching David Merrill, the Bueghly family,
and Weitzels (various spellings) who are all my relatives. Write to me after
the 25th and I can see what else I might have on Bear Creek.
Good luck

Lois and Carolyn,
I have a lot on the Fadele/Faidley line. My gg grandmother was Deliliah
Faidley, born 1829 in Upper Turkeyfoot,PA, and married Frederick Younkin.
Their daughter Mary Ann Younkin was my g grandmother. I have the
parents of Peter and Susanna as Michael Fedele. Would you like me to
send what I have on the Faidley line? The genealogy report is 12 pages
long. I don't have anything on the Nyce line and would love to add to
Susanna's line. I have no Ruth Catherine Faidley.

Thanks. I've added you and Ralph Egyud to my address book on the

anything that surfaces on the Beeghleys. I feel that there are a lot of
pieces connecting my Hetricks to the Beeghleys -- Would love to know where
the Beeghleys lived for starters as the Beeghleys obviously had two of my
Hetricks as borders when they
