Connie, Just off the top of my head, I think I remember
reading about (given name could have been) Frederick Fox in
Friendsville. I think maybe he built some of the large
houses and hotels there.
Since the Glades Star isn't an ALL name index, I don't know
that I can find it again, but there is information about the
Fox family in Friendsville, I am sure of that much.

Pat,
A little more input on the question.
On March 17, 1876 my grandparents bought two military lots near
Gortner--#'s 2537 and 2568 comprising approx. 50 acres each from a couple
named Michael and Bridget Maroney. Do not know if this Maroney was the
original recipient or not. The deed states, they "covenant that they
will warrant generally the property hereby granted and that they have not
done or suffered any act or thing to be done to encumber the property
hereby surveyed and that they will execute

Lois,
Thanks for your help with this. You and Pat have given me the impetus to
visit Oakland before long. If I thought this sweet elder lady could make it
up the stairs, I'd take her to Friendsville also.

I have awareness of three Street men, (an "s" tends to get added, but
officially the two in Barbour county did not use the "s" in writing, but I
understand the one that remained in Preston county did use the terminal
"s"). I believe the father of these three did settle in Barbour County
while it was still part of Randolph County, VA. The two sons here both
married daughters from an early family of settlers by the name of Hardin, a
family that also spent time in Kentucky, up in Fayette Co., PA and probabl

Sarah Friend b. abt. 1795 (below) was the daughter of Joseph Friend 1760-~1860 and Mary Greene (the little girl who was wounded by Indians in a raid in Preston County, WV) daughter of John Greene and ?wife.
What I am trying to unravel is: Was Sarah's husband, John Green King, the son of Elizabeth Greene, also a daughter of John Greene and ? - The daughter, Elizabeth, was captured by the Indians in the same raid, and it is written in "The History of West Virginia, by Wiley (1882)" that she when she was fou
Hi Sandra,
I know you didn't ask for a look-up but while I was in the book I checked
out your Streets.
I found Francis with two 100 acre lots in Baltimore County on 10 May 1709.
The lots were named Garrison's Ridge and Streete's Adventure.
Also listed was George Street in Frederick County, 30 acres called Stoney
Springs on 15 Nov 1759.
I don't know how far along you are in your research but I noticed Francis'
lot called Garrison Ridge. There was a Fort Garrison through the late
1600's to early 1700's.
Hello all you listers
I spoke with Miss Ina today and her husband Bob's memorial is Mar 21 at 2pm at the Health Food Store here in Friendsville for all who are interested. She is doing well and says hello to all.Shirley Drent

Shirley, thanks for the info. This Nathaniel is not mine. Mine was a son
of Shadrack who was son of Thomas and were in Preston County WV and who
married Phebe Wilhelm. He died in Preston Co. and was buried at Albright.
But his stone was washed away in flood of 1986. We found his death info in
a book of cemetery readings by CCC. I am still looking for his wife info -
where buried, and thought the death certificate may show a birth date and
place and parents. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Al
I have a couple of Streets who lived on Street Road in Flintstone, Allegany

Any connections?
