Rick,
Thanks for taking the time to look up Knox for me. I knew it would be a long-shot, as my Knox ancestors are very "elusive". Thanks again for all your time and help.

Thanks Pat,
Thanks for the John Lightfoot Durst info. It's good to have other resources
to compare info. I still think the "Lightfoot" is his mother's maiden name
because of the naming tradition. It's very likely John Lightfoot was named
after his mother's father.

Connie,
I think the George Stark in my email was Peter G. and Lydia Slabaugh Stark's
son but I don't have anything I can put my finger on.
Margie and Doris could though. They are the ones that told me about George
but at the time I was too new into the genealogy to connect him to the
family. Seems to me I recall his marriage(s) was very troubled and he ended
up hanging himself.

The Halls are mentioned as early settlers. "Richard hall received 100 acres
of Blooming Rose as a squatter around 1774." "In 1800 the General Assembly
authorized the construction of the Blooming Rose Road along a path that
leads from Richard Hall's House to the Meeting House on Sandy Creek."

Hi there,
The Playford Friend listed in the Canaan Cemetery Transcript is not likely
the fellow you are thinking of.
This Playford (a first cousin of my late father-in-law) lived out his entire
life in the Banks District of Upshur Co. WV.
He is the s/o Jasper Friend & "Ollie" Strader, while the fellow you are
probably thinking of is the son of Zachary Friend & Elizabeth Feather of
Friendsville.
Bye for now,
Kathleen

In my younger days, growing up in Frostburg, I had a friend with the last
name of House who lived on Welsh Hill. Down in Shaft I had a friend with
the last name of Howser. In Beall High we had a teacher named Mr.
Howsare...Hilary Howsare. taught geometry with a big stick. I cannot
recall a Hauser but could all of these names be from the same ancestors?
Just curious. I really have nothing on any of these people so please don't
ask. No idea where any of them are living.
Connie
Lois,
FYI . . . my Great-Grandmother, Elizabeth Victoria "Lizzie" (Opel) Stephen, was a School Teacher, and had Annie Ash in her classes. Lizzie had indicated that Annie's family was so poor, they didn't have shoes to wear. Made for some terrible walking during Winter months. "Lizzie" Opel was the daughter of Pete Opel and Mary Brenneman.

Carolyn, I am so sorry, but I could not find the address for Gerald
Custer at my father's house. I looked through Mom's address books and
Christmas card lists. The only other thing I know to do is to look
through a large box of cards received through the years. I know my
parents mentioned visiting him once, but Dad's memory is not good. I
will keep trying. Delores
Hi Kathleen, I may be wrong about that county - that is where some of my
ancestors were in 1890/1900 period. Then some moved to Upshur county.
Elkins was where they were. sorry if I mislead anyone. Jo in PA

Hello to all my fellow Beeghly/Harden/Newmyer(Newmire) researchers. I do have
a fair amount of information on Anna and Jeremiah and their children. I ended
up tracking down a lot on their youngest child Lucinda since Jeremiah spent
his last years living in Markleysburg with her and her husband. Anna and
Jeremiah's daughter, Mollie Beeghly Merrill, is my great grandmother.
Let me know what you would like. The Brethren Archives has provided great
assistance.
