Beverly posted these on the Somerset County List, some names looked like
ones I have seen mentioned on this List.

Connie,
I bet that was a "kick" -- Wish I could've been there. If you were serving,
makes it a little difficult to take notes. :-)

Richard,
Table Rock is Off Rt . 50, between Redhouse and Gorman.
If you have a map with elevations marked, look for "Conneway Hill,
elevation 3193".
There are no towns in the immediate vicinity of Table Rock, so it is
hard to explain exactly where it is.
It is in the south-west corner of Garrett County, just about half way
between Grafton, WV and Gorman, MD on Rt. 50.

Hello All,
We are planning a fact finding trip to Garrett Co. in October. When is the
best time to take advantage of the height of fall colors? What and where are
the "must visit" places to visit for genealogy info? Also need locations of
following: Philos Cemetery
Union Cemetery in Meyersdale?
Luke
Kight Funeral home
Thank you .

On the subject of Rowan--how do you pronounce that name? ROW-in or RO-WAN?
The is a family of Rowans who have a picnic every year in Cumberland who
descend from Hugh and Sarah. Is that your family? They are ROW-INS. Lois

Connie, I have a great idea. Wouldn't it be nice to plan a genealogy bus
trip? We could stay over night somewhere. Has there ever been a trip like
this?

Hello Edie:
Would Alice Amelia Moon be the daughter of Jacob W. Moon and
Mary Ann Demmit? All I have regarding her is Alice A. Moon, b.
about 1872, from census data.
There is some information on these Rowans in Marshall G. Brown's
Harvey genealogy. I can't tell for sure whether you have it or not.
For instance, #3, Virginia Rowan- Brown on page 343 gives 81113
"Virginia Irene Rowan. She was born March 18, 1920. She married
Nov. 16, 1940; Eugene Otis Nazelrod. He was born Jan. 17, 1917."

Edie,
I wondered if HARRY MURPHY might be my grandmother Mary Margaret
(Murphy) Kiser's brother? Harry Kiser b. 1893. He had two wives,
one unknown and one Leota Susan Knight. He had three children,
that I know of, Ernest, Mary Ellen and Mildred. I don' t know if
the above children were of his first wife or Leota, or if there
were more children. This is all my mother could remember.
I don't have any information on the Rowan family. Does anything
look like it might connect to your Murphy information.
Maria,
If you're still there, and if you read this before you leave, yes, bring a
warm jacket. It's usually cool here in the mountains, can get down right
cold or even get warmer.
Will be praying for your safe trip.
Connie
List,
Can someone help locate Table Rock? It is probably along the Potomac but I cannot locate it. The Fairview Church was there abt 1910.
Thanks,
Richard

You're welcome Betty. Happy hunting!

Dear Sam,
I was reviewing some posts to the list that I'd saved while on vacation,
and read this:
"So this is a piece of the Moon puzzle that confirms the accuracy of
my grandmother's record. Beckman, Fulmer, Kesner are surnames which
tie into the Moon family history one way or another."
I am searching for Fulmers, and have a great deal on the Beckmans. My
great-grandmother Margaret Belle (Fulmer Beckman) Howell, was "adopted" by
Theodore and Louisa Beckman after the death of her parents, M
PS I took a quick look in the Marriage Records- Garrett Co Courthouse
Book 3,
1895-1900 and didn't see your people. So maybe a later one will do the
trick!

Beverly,
To the best of my knowledge, Book 3 is the last book. I don't think
marriage records, after 1900, have been gathered for publication.
Pat-T
Well, Connie,
I missed my chance to meet you, but I'll know you
next time I see you.

Sonny, I don't know where it is but I have the same thing as part of my
genealogy software. Send me the data and I'll figure it out for you. And
let's do them all at one time.

Connie, What Firehall? You do not live in the Friendsville area, do you?
Isn't Chauncey amazing? He told me the last time I saw him that he was
called Chancey, and when, as a boy on an errand for his father, the
blacksmith told him that he should be Chauncey, as it sounded more
dignified, Chauncey decided from that time forward he would be Chauncey.
I grew up in the house across the street from the Riverside
I worked at the Firehall tonight, serving dinners. The group having the
dinners was the graduating classes from Friendsville High School classes
1951 and back to the beginning.
Oldest person there was Chauncey Friend who also taught in many of the
schools of Garrett County.
Sorry I didn't take notes.
Connie
Breezy,
I have the marriage records for Garrett County up to 1900. I don't find
your grandparents listed. If they married after 1900 I don't have that
information.
You might try contracting the courthouse in Oakland.

Dear Connie,
I was there! At one point I thought, "Maybe one of these
ladies is Connie" but dismissed the thought.
Are you the woman who started pulling off our tablecloth
before we had our dessert? Memorable.
