Where would a death notice be printed? I don't think anything was printed for my uncle.

Since I posted all of those obits and marriages a few days ago I've had
several questions asking if I have access to the Sun for other lookups.
Unfortunately the answer to that is no (I wish I did - then I'd be able
to do my lookups whenever I wanted!). I go on research trips to
Baltimore every few months, look at the microfilms of the Sun for obits
for my ancestors, and many other obits come along on the copy when I
print it. So, to increase my genealogy "karma," I transcribe the pages
of obits a
Hi Betty,
I don't. Someplace in Milford DE. I'm sure my mom does. It was a big mess. You did teach me something about how the obituaries/death notices work though.
Thanks,

A lot of newspapers are now charging for obits. So the family actually has
to pay to have an obit posted. Some folks are choosing not to post one.

The state index is online but you will need to look in both Baltimore City
and the remaining Counties. There are two separate indices. Luckily for
you they are by year and name. Or a group of years. Since you know the
year. Good. But if it is a county after 1951 there is no index on line
City only goes to 1972.
Here is the url:

Look on the left for Search MD Vital Records. Then you will see it broken
down by City and Counties. Each is index differently so first

Death Notices are a paid listing and may be printed in the paper only or be
in the paper and on line too. The Baltimore Sun charges for the listing in
the paper and an additional fee to post the death notice on line.
Obituaries are written by the Sun Staff or may be written by a family
member, The Baltimore Sun limits the number of Obituaries.
Some Funeral Homes have web pages where they list death notices or
obituaries also.
As you can see from all the comments you got, death notices are not
automatic. But here's a suggestion. Many families more than a few miles
out from the city post death notices, but not in the Sun. Joppa is about
12-15 miles outside the city. Check "The Aegis," which lists many death
notices from that area. They don't have online archives, but you can find
info on contacting them and on their death notices in the Q&A link at
http://www.theaegis.com/news.htm.

My husband's Wilson's are from the early-mid-1800's in Baltimore. They are
there by 1833.
Maria Wilson b. ca 1816 in Maryland married Thomas Turner b ca 1810 in
England -married in Baltimore Aug 30 1833. Her mother's first name is
Rachael b ca 1794 in Maryland. The only other information on the Turner's
that I have beside children forward (George, Marcella, Sarah Jane, Rachael,
Isabel) is the fact that they were not Catholic. Since they had only one
son that I know of, it would be hard to tell who if a

A cousin I hadn't seen for many years died in Joppa, MD on March 14, 2005.

common, or might it have been printed in another newspaper?
Thank you.
