1. Re: [MDGEN] Trip to National Archives [1]
Hi Bob, Do they still have a bus running from the Maryland Appeals Court outside of Annapolis to the Archives in Annapolis. Many years ago, we visited the library or something in the Appeals building to do some research, then took a jitney bus into the Archives in Annapolis, leaving our car parked at the Appeals Building. Anna: Annapolis and Washington, DC are not really in close proximity, you'll need two days-one for each facility. Here's the link to the Info for Researchers at NARA, click on Research Room rules for info on what is and isn't allowed. Appears you can bring laptops and cameras and "approved" scanners. http://www.archives.gov/dc-metro/washington/researcher-info.html MD archives rules are posted here http://www.mdarchives.state.md.us/msa/refserv/forms/html/rules.html appears you can ask permission to use c

Maybe you should get off this list, if you don't want people to email you.----- Original Message ----- From: "Roy R. It only takes about 1/2 hour between the two facilities. Nat. Arch. is in Silver Spring off the Belt way toward College Park, turning south unto New Hampshire Ave. and the MdSA is right off Rt 50 taking Rowe Blvd into Annapolis by the Stadium. Even in Rush hour it should take more than about 45-50 minutes between the two. Annapolis is about 21 miles from DC. I take this route from the Eastern Shore to get to work with the "DC Bandits" high tech firms I contract to. Just a word of advice ...if you're g

Now you've got me about any bus service. :-( But they should have plenty of parking there at the Archives on 350 Rowe Blvd. If you're coming from DC on Rt 50 keep past Parole exit, but get in the right lane about in that area and take the next exit at Rowe. Drive down about a half mile toward Annapolis and you'll see it. You could always try this link to their directions page which has a link to a transportation page :-) They also have map links and more, but I KNOW they have a parking lot there. So,

Hi, I hope to be taking a trip to Maryland in February. I believe that the National Archives is there? Can anyone give me advice on what to bring? What kind of records they house? Can I bring a camera that has a museum mode? Can I bring a laptop? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Anna Adams
