I'm hoping someone can help me. I know fro a fact my Great Grandmother died in 1919, but I do not know the exact date--not even the exact month. I also know there was a write up in the paper about her because I saw it and have read it many times when I was a child. My grandmother had cut the column out of the paper and it did not have any date on it. The write up lists all her children, grands, great grands, and great great grands by name. I don't know what happened to the original. I wrote to the As

My sisters and I have luck with three methods: white chalk in the
indentations you can feel; lead pencil in the indentations before taking a
Polaroid shot; and tracing on paper with a pencil over the indentations.
This worked the best for a long quote.

I'm new to this list and I am attempting to trace the arrival of a Michael
GRIGG to either Maryland or Virginia around 1660s.
The name Michael is not common in England at this time and almost all
references found in the seventeenth century are linked to one family from
London and Bedforshire.
I have noticed in various lists that a Michael GRIGG did travel to Maryland,
at what date I'm not sure.
There is a reference to him in a set of CDs, "Colonial Families of
Maryland", CDs 184 and 189. From Australia
A friend suggested using cheap baking flour and a paint brush. It works
well and washes right off with no damage to the stone. I also use a piece
of cardboard about 1 foot by 2 feet with aluminum foil over it. Hold the
cardboard beside the stone and reflect the available light across the
stone. The cardboard is easy to carry and works as well as a mirror.

I think it would be inappropriate for me try to educate anyone on the use or
misuse of DNA data.
The following link is to a site that provides a look at several aspects of
DNA use. Both positive and negative aspects are discussed. The information
appears to be designed for a "lay person" audience, so most people should be
able to understand the concepts discussed. Anyone could "begin" their
education here.
