Dear Readers,
I am interested in contacting descendants of two Herbert young people who emigrated from Ireland to the Baltimore area. Family lore indicates that two children of a Patrick Herbert left Ireland, where they were born, and emigrated to the Baltimore area about the year 1830 around the time that their father remarried, marrying a Margaret Giblin. The father known as Patrick may have been called Peter or even George. The name of his first wife in not known. Story has it that Patrick Herbert, w

Place Names Of Maryland. Their Origin and Meaning,
Edesville, Near Rock Hall, Kent County, This was Edesville P. O. in 1886,
Forks in the road here probably account for the earlier name, Forktown. The
name is from the family name Ede(s). In 1790 there were 3 Eads, 1 Eades, and
1 Edes. This rare surname is probably a pet form of Edith.
Well, I guess it might be! Rick

I'm trying to find out where T. Scott OFFUTT, Jr. was buried. He lived on
Joppa Road in Towson when he died in the late 1970's to the early 1980's,

His father, Thiemann Scott OFFUTT, Sr. was a Baltimore County Judge and is
buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Towson along with other members of the
family. The cemetery either doesn't know if Scott, Jr. is buried there or
won't give out the information and there is nothing engraved on th

I am trying (unsuccessfully so far) to locate the origins of a Josiah
Mitchell from Maryland. Born around 1837, his father was Cyrus and both were
seamen. Josiah came to the UK, married Ada Amelia Hansford in 1869 and in
1881 was living in West Hartlepool in the north of England. He died there in
the early 1900's. Apart from these details I know nothing more about his
life in Maryland.
I hope someone somewhere has come across him before in any form of records.
