3. [MDMONTGO] Windsor Family [1]
My sister and I are researching our line of Windsor's but we have "hit a brickwall". We have traced our line back to our GG-Grandfather, Lemuel H. Windsor, born 1832 somewhere in Maryland (have not been able to locate his birth record). At this point, we are trying to find Lemuel's exact birthplace and his parents names. A family member told the story that Lemuel's father had built a house in Princess Anne, Somerset Co., MD; and that this house has a brick in it with the name "Windsor" on it. His

5. Re: [MDMONTGO] Research [1]
Donna: The MD Archives are not "shut down temporarily" or otherwise. They have temporarily suspended research for birth/death records because of budget cut-backs. However, they are hoping to get some records on-line. This doesn't mean you can't go in person or have someone go for you and do research into those records, it just means they won't do it for you. Marriage records for Mtgy Co. are on microfilm in two sections at MSA 1798-1839 and 1867-1899. There are also other marriage indices in the card cata
6. [MDMONTGO] Research [1]
According to their web site the Maryland Archives are shut down temporarily. Can I find an 1859 marrige record from Montgomery County anywhere in Montgomery Co.? What about a death record from 1912? It should be a copy of the original record if at all possible. Is there a Dept. of Health in the county, and does it keep some vital records? How far back? Any help appreciated, Donna M. Wolf

I have a litle bit - I started working on the Prather family recently, when I discovered that "Prather" was a Jamestown name. Living in SE VA, as I do, Jamestown has been much in the news and I set out to find what ancestors I had who were "Ancient Planters". I have only followed the Prather line down to the Williams connection, which is my line. Hope you're able to use this. Jan Taylor jtaylor@3bubbas.com Generation One 1. 16. [MDMONTGO] an off the wall inquiry about Stonestreet Ave in Rockville [1]
I am researching the history of my family and have a bit of a strange question. My grandparents (George Hinkle, Dec 8, 1910-April 2, 1988 and Nancy Hancock Hinkle May 29, 1912-Nov 1986) lived at 716 South Stonestreet Avenue in Rockville from about 1951 until sometime in the early 1980's. That particular house (716) is no longer standing...but to the best of my knowledge, other houses are still there. My grandparents were *forced* to move out due to construction (if my memory serves me correctly, an off ramp

Robert Peter also became mayor of Georgetown, the old town on the Potomac, which became part of the new District of Columbia in 1791. Georgetown remained a separate town from the new City of Washington. Robert Peter lived in Georgetown, and some records of his would be in DC (after 1791). If you cannot find all that you are looking for in Montgomery County, Maryland, you may want to check with the District of Columbia records. I believe that the DC Historical Society keeps files on Robert Peter.
18. [MDMONTGO] Dottie M. Taylor Gaithersburg, Montgomery, MD 1986 [1]
I recently discovered that I had a half brother, James Forbes Taylor(1937-1994). Unfortunately, he has passed away before I could make contact. He lived in Charleston, West Virginia at least until the age of 16. In searching the newspaper archives for a Charleston, West Virginia newspaper, I found a obit. that seems to be a match for my half brother's mother. Her name was Dottie M. Taylor. The obituary was published in the Charleston Gazette on April 24, 1986. Her social security death index rec

Good morning Denisa, I grew up on Park Road between Grandin Avenue and Horners Lane. The construction began about 1978 and continued thru the ealry 80s. It was undertaken to facilitate access to Rockville Pike from the East side of the tracks while allowing traffic to navigate and access the Metro Station which is now situated where Stonestreet and Park Road formerly intersected. Let me know if you wuild like some pictures from that area and I will take them for you and email same. If you

Hello Valerie, I'm certainly not an expert but have followed some of the Quaker migration of families from Pa. and Md. to Virginia and then on to Ky. and Ohio. My interest is in determining Joseph Hutton, b. abt. 1760-70 and wife Ann Kinsler. Early on, abt. 1750-70's they were plenty of Janney's in Fredricksburg, Va.-some went to Fairfax meeting and others to Hopewell meeting. There is a Joseph Hutton who married Sarah Janney so I took note. There is a good chance that your Oden's came from Pa. Check ce

Thanks Michael, I will give them a call, as I'm in Calif. I've collected much, except the wills for the family, and I need to see them or abstracts of them to firm up relationships. Robert Peter wasn't a lawyer though, he was a Merchant for the Glassford company and upon sending him over here ca 1756 he was appointed attorney in fact for the company. Meaning he was just another merchant for the company. Shirley Middleton Moller ----- Original Message ----- From: To:

Janice and list, Great info. thanks for passing it on. I can give the correct info on the marriage order of Martha Sprigg to Thomas Prather, then to Capt. Stephen Yoakley.
