Hi Charley, Thanks for posting this great information. By process of elimination, it appears that it was the daughter Ann Clarke who married Williamson Hayes. From other records, I knew that Mary Clarke had married Thomas Morris and Jane had married Samuel Sothoron. This is the only place I'd seen her given name of Ann provided. Patty: No, the state of Maryland had nothing to do with the censoring. The censoring is done by the U. S. Veterans Administration and/or the U. S. Department of Justice. The V. A. requires all spoken text to be submitted in advance & OK'ed to use at Point Lookout. There were some personal attacks on Janet Reno, President Clinton, etc. in the past & I think they want to avoid that sort of thing. Censoring speech seems to go counter to the First Amendment, but I guess the V. A. is in need keeping all events o

I have 10 children for Francis. I wonder is Susan, for whom I have no marriage, is one and the same as Mary who married Thomas Morris. Could it be Susan Mary? Jerry, etal How in the world can you extrapolate that Francis Clarrke knew Thomas Sprigg because John Hawkins was indebted to both of them when he died. Can you set down and list all the people your Uncle is indebted to??? Or better yet, since no relationship to Hawkins has been established, make that a neighbor of your Uncle. I realize Jerry has accepted that position and has other opinions on that subject as well ,that this list has already heard a thousand times, of course all of which are undo

John Wheatley of St. Mary's County gives his wife's name as Elizabeth in his will(14:388). Other researchers have noted that his wife was Winefred Horn evidencing the following - On 5 Apr 1682, 100 acres called Maiden's Lott were patented to one Winefred Horn; and on 4 Aug 1685 the land was transferred to her then husband, John Wheatley of Calvert County, Md. Jerry, etal I will provide you both suits regarding Thomas Clarke's family and Francis Clarke's family. Luke Clarke and his sister, Mary Compton took on William Guibert who married Julian Mudd, widow of Thomas Clarke and decided to keep all the money himself. Luke did probably 95% of the leg work and won: See: Testamentary Proceedings, 1723-26, Box 30, folder 11. Luke and Mary won. Mary had two daughters named Mary, one by her first husband John JOHNSON, and one by her second husband John ROSE, that are referred to in her will as "daughter Mary CLARKE" and "daughter Mary BIRCH." The estate of her second husband John ROSE paid a legacy to Mary CLARKE, so it would appear Mary ROSE married a CLARKE. Here are some documents we see that mention Frances Clarke who married Mary Rose. Most of the time Frances Clarke makes no mention of his wife. Linda is correct. Cedar Point M. E. Church, fore-runner of Lexington Park U. M. Church, was located near St. Nicholas R. C. Church. When the U. S. Navy took over the area at the start of WWII, St. Nicholas's building to taken over to be the base chapel. The Cedar Point M. E. church was demolished. The graves at St. Nicholas were kept were they were; the stones were laid flat and covered over. The graves at Cedar Point M. E. were to be moved to Ebenezer M. E. churchyard in Great Mills. I understand that not
