Hi Lauren,
I wanted to put this family out there, to see if I would get some replies
back, because of having no info on any of these Wades. I know that there were
other Wades in Maryland, but didn't know what counties. With all of the other
names in my family that are connected to Washington County, I didn't expect to
see the name Wade.
Most of Zachary Wade's descendents migrated south/southwest from Maryland.
(Prince George, Charles and St. Mary Counties.) I would bet that the Lancelot

I am wondering is anyone knows about the family of William A. Maze, born
about 1900-1905, possibly in Kentucky. He married Eura (Eurie) Barkdoll

was born 13 jun 1897 and died about 1932. She is buried in Hagerstown.
This couple had a daughter, Patricia (Patty or Patsy) who was raised by
my grandparents, Harvey and Viola Mong Gardenhour after the death of
Eurie. William Maze, or Bill, remarried in Hagerstown area (second wife

Hi......
I noticed Jacob STOUFFER on your list. I saw an old (April 2000) message of
someone looking for info on Jacob STOUFFER born 1840..died 1912 Illinois.
He married Elizabeth POPE. The message stated that they started in
Washington County, Maryland, and at one point was in Nebraska. I am going
to try to contact the author of this message if her email is still good. I
did find Jacob STOUFFER & family on the 1880 census in Ogle Co., Illinois.

Hi,
I missed the beginning of this exchange so I am sorry if this is way off track. I am looking for the parents of Owen and Levi HAMILTON b. 1823 and 1824 along the MD/PA border. A wild guess is that they might be George Hamilton and Sarah Scarff but that is only because there are a lot of Georges and Sarahs in the families and their marriage date of 7/6/1818 would be about the right time. I have not been able to find more information about this couple. Any information would be appreciated.

This is a lovely idea, but after some research it was pointed out to me that
it only works with Windows. Those of us with Macs are out of luck. Besides,
what happens in coming years if Windows isn't around? Wouldn't it be better to
put the information on a Web page and the URL on the headstone?

According to the map I have from 1877 District 2 was Williamsport. Which is could have changed in that time span, so I am not sure. Here is the link where I got the map from http://www.whilbr.org/Image.aspx?photo=wcjl996s.jpg&idEntry=1309&title=Washington+County+Jury+List+1877
Hope that helps!

Anyone know if there were any Ridgelys in Washington Co . . .especially Murley Branch area in 1770s to 1790s? I would be especially interested if anyone with that surname married into Robinetts, Willisons or Lazears. I am looking for a Hyatt/Ridgely connection.
Many Thanks, Janet Currie
I knew that - I have those moments as well.
So, were there burials that didn't make the books - like when people were
buried on their own property, for example? Would will and probate records be
the only other way to find death records? Marilee

I may have asked this before but could someone who has access to the cemetery volumes look up to see where Anthony Baltzer and his wife Elizabeth Funk may be buried? They lived in Boonsboro for the most part, but also Hagerstown for part of the time - Anthony was born in 1754/1757 and died in 1842. His name has been spelled in different ways: Balzer, Balser, Betzer, Bettser.
Thanks!

Ruth,
You are correct in that my books only record actual burials in a grave
site. The only way it would show up is if the body was brought back to
Washington County, MD. I look through all 7 volumes and found plenty of
Barrs, but not yours.

Thanks so much for sharing. I have spent most of my 81 years within a
few miles of the Wilson Bridge, and fondly remember crossing it before the
"new" bridge was built, I think in the late 30's. Have traveled much of the
road through MD and PA on various occasions. Bob Bloyer
