9. RE: [MDWASHIN-L] RE: When? Elizabeth Town to Hager's Town [1]
Sylvia, Thank you. I really appreciate you noticing my earlier posting and sending me this very interesting information. I've already added it to the NOTES for Johann Frederick Desern in my database. Donald DeZarn BTW: It's interesting to note "Williamsport, Washington County", because I grew up in a town named Williamsport, Indiana. It was named after a man named Williams who had a port on the banks on the Wabash River, thus Williamsport !! -----Original Message----- From: SYLVIA SEARS [mailto:sylvia.s

Bud, This information regarding Elizabeth Town/Hager's Town is very interesting. I'm wondering if you can check the same reference book to see if there are any references any of the persons or places mentioned in the following: Extracts from Wills, Washington Co. Md. - Will of Frederick Tefern of Conococheague Hundred, Washington Co. State of Md., dated 21 October 1778, probated 24 November, 1778, witnessed by John Barnes, Jacob Hershner, and Jacob Sibert; executors, John Barnes, Jacob Sibert, and wife,
16. Re: [MDWASHIN-L] Roland [1]
Hi Karen & List, I wonder if you could be referring to "Marsh Hundred"? My Neale PEACOCK family show up in the 1810 census in Marsh Hundred, of Washington county, which if I understand correctly, was a subdivision of a county, similar to townships. The term "hundred" may have been an ancient term (Roman?) that related to an area of land necessary to support 100 soldiers. OR - it may have been the size of a land grant. I must do some research on this. I also found my same Peacock family in the 1800 censu
