Thom - I hope you find what/who you're looking for. I see on my Washington
County map that there is a town Pleasant Valley - it would be about 11 miles
NNE of Boonsboro - very close to Frederick County line on Hwy 77. There is
an area called Pleasant Valley (where I live) that is in the southern part of
the county. I don't know if it's an official location - but there is an
elem. school by this name.

Why did so many people from Washington County, Maryland end up in Ogle
County??
Monica in Oregon
Good question Monica. My question is WHY from the same area in Washington
Co.???? William Twigg's first wife, Martha Cunningham died and is buried
in the little cemetery in Cavetown. Then he left and went to Ogle Co.
around the same time as your lines. He married a second wife and later
moved to Plover, IA.

I don't know if the book is still in print or not. I got mine from the

It is by Dale Morrow and Deborah Jensen. Wills of Washington County,
Maryland, An index 1776-1890.
I check all of the SH's and came up with this

No such luck. I tried every spelling ever used and then wild cards (%)
and he is not listed. I guess I can assume that he did not receive any
land grants. I really appreciate your help.

Have you triedasking the caretaker for burials other than those with
monuments? Sometimes books are kept of all graves including those where no
marker was set.

Jean,
Suggest you go to the Hagerstown Public Library. They have a special
section on genealogy. Also will, deeds etc can be found in Hagerstown.
I spent several days there several years ago and found it very helpful.
