I'm not related at all, just trying to help out, as I have a lot of
genelogy software, and thought you may not have seen this.
I was wondering if it made a difference as to where he was buried, as there
didn't seem to be any record
at the Mt Vernon Cemetery in Augusta.(That he was in Soldiers Home)
Could the VA hospital in Togus give you any info at all....was he mentally
sound??? They did treat dementia I read.

Oh I got excited as I thought you were related somehow. I know he was in the Home For Disabled Vets but that was from Dec 1930 - June 1932. He didn't die til 13 Nov 1948 he was in North Augusta, Me at that time. Rumor (someone, who? wrote somewhere?) that he married an Ida K. ? if this is true that had to be between 1914 birth date of last child in Augusta, Me. and 1920 census Hartford, Hartford, ct. that shows ex wife with new husband. I have reconnected with a WILKINS researcher this week, and we are putting
our heads together to come up with more ideas on how to solve the mystery of
the couple, Samuel WILKINS and Electra "Leeta" (unknown). They were
both born ~1780 "somewhere" and married ~1800 "somewhere." They were
in Unity, ME, in 1810, 1820, and 1830. They don't show up in 1790 or 1800
census records.
My "educated guess" is that Samuel's parents were William WILKINS and Sarah
BANCROFT who left Middleton,
