Irene: We don't know about other Rootsweb mail lists, but we feel Duane does a great service in posting Merrill obits from New England newspapers to the Merrill list. These are public records, just like the Social Security Death Index which is accessed through Rootsweb. The obits usually give additional info, i.e. parents and childrens names, not given in the SSDI, but seldom give details on the living which might present a security risk. MERRILL EDDINGTON - John Wilton Merrill, 65, husband of Katherine (Hall) Merrill, passed away peacefully, Nov. 14, 2004, surrounded by his family at his home in Eddington.
