1. [METISGEN-L] Burke/Carrier marriage [1]
Hi: I'm new to the list. I'm trying to find information on a marriage between a Patrick Burke and a Serafin (Sarah) Carriere. They were most likely married in St. Boniface about 1870. Both were Roman Catholics. Where can I find information on the marriage? Any info would be greatly appreciated. 15. [METISGEN-L] History Question 1850 - 1865 Quebec [0.978679]
Hello All, What might have been going on between around 1850 and 1865 in the Quebec region of Canada? Its seems a lot of Canadians left Quebec during that time frame into the USA. I can think of a number of reasons: a violent conflict or war, epidemic, food shortages! I know many younger man of Canada served in the American Civil War of 1860 - 1865. Then the discharged soldier didn't have to go through the emigration or naturalization process. JoMarie

There are many more places in this area that contain the Gaelic tribal word or name
