Am I correct that the Federal 1890 census was destroyed by fire? If so, is there any possibility that Maine conducted an 1895 State census? Thanks, Nancy

Tina, None in my lines. But there are a number -- many too many to post -- of your first three surnames in Eaton's Thomaston History and the Rockland VR. Not sure about 1895, but .. The Maine 1890 Federal Population Schedules were completely destroyed by fire in the Commerce Department Building in January 1921. The Special Schedules Enumerating Union Veterans and Widows in Maine do survive. I am searching for the children of Deacon Asa SYLVESTER and Sarah WORTHEN / WORTHING. Asa is the son of Ebenezer SYLVESTER and Hannah (Ann) HUTCHINS. He was born in 1786.
