Hi, my name is Susan Woiderski Miner and I am interested in find out more info on a tombstone in Pine Hill Cemetary. All it says is mother1833-1910 Father 1822-1899 Elliott, I think it may belong to my Great Grandparent, James and Jane Elliott. Does anyone know how I can find out if they have more complete records anywhere. Also I am looking for more information on Jane. Her maden name was Smith. Her fathers name was Isaac Smith and they all lived in Cheboygan, migrating from Ontario, Canada. Is there
It's the Cheboygan-County-Cemetery-Book-Look-Up-Lady ... again. You
know, I've often wondered why Jack was so eager to give up his position
as the CCCB-Look-Up-Gentleman. Sure, sure ... he SAID it was "time to
move on to other things". Right.
Know what I think? I think he lost his nerve. He knew sooner or later
that someone was going to come along and ask him to look up a SMITH ...
and he wanted to get out of the game before that happened ...
Well, Jack ... you lucky devil. This week, I got asked to look

Thank you, Nancy, for another worthwhile (as always) tip/contribution. You
seem to have a good eye for spotting these little tidbits that always turn
out to be both useful and interesting.

Sue, check out the Newspaper Surname index on the CCGS web site
(http://www.rootsweb.com/~micheboy/surmain.htm). There are several articles related
to James ELLIOT/ELLIOTT. One is probably his obituary since it is dated July 8,
1899. There is also an article related to Mrs. James ELLIOT dated November 24, 1927.
In addition, there are many articles on other ELLIOIT/ELLIOT's, some of which may be
the same family. All the articles on James were in the Cheboygan Democrat and copies
can be ordered from the Che

Hello again, everyone: Thanks so much for all the good ideas on how to
find out more about the Redman tombstone in the Munro Cemetery. One
member actually had the name, address and phone number of the Munro
township clerk (who might know where the sexton's records are kept). And
I was reminded that the undertaker/funeral home also would have kept
records. Not to mention the Cheboygan County Clerk. I've passed all your
comments on to Elaine ... and is she ever excited.
I took a deeper interest in this case

Hello All and especially Patricia Kneisler :
A Ms. Opal Redman is
Greetings,
I received this message from a fellow GENseeker. She gave me permission to post it at this site. Can anyone help her.

Hey sorry I've been outta the loop, outta town for work-still. Anyway- question looking for a Selma LeDuc. Married Fred Robbins in May 1900 in Michigan. Had a bunch (12) kids, one is my grandfather, in upper Michigan. Her family is from Canada.
I've been given her father as Edward/Edouard LeDuc and her mother keeps changing depending on who I talk to.
While rummaging through GENfolders and other good stuff, I ran across two GENwebsites I completely forgot about. These are good sites and I recommend giving them a try.
For those searching their Scottish roots, try this:

This next site I got from a French Canadian researcher, but you can enter any surname. I'm having fun brushing up on my French, which is, a little better than bad.
