Hi Midlothian List,
I wonder if anyone can help me with an image or two from the 1901 Census for
Scotland.
I found out last night that my grandfather's elder brother was in Scotland
in 1901. I have access to the information but not to an image.
John GUNTHER served with the Artillery in South Africa and then in France
during the First World War. Seemingly he was at Leith Fort when the census
was taken. According to what I could find he was at Leith North, Leith,
Midlothian, Line 24, Roll CSSCT1901_399
Susan,
The Spare OPR & Marriage details, information given by you is well done,
clear & easy to read, must have taken you ages to put on line.
Unfortunately it does not include any of my family
Mary
Can't help with the Hunters, but JANET PRYDE was my 2nd cousin 4 times
removed.
I have details on her ancestry going back to JAMES PRYDE & HELEN SELKIRK
C.1670s
If you need any info, mail me off list.
Regards
Tom

Hi Susan,
Thank you for all your work to help the rest of us "seekers". I have found
many of my family names in your certs., but am still in the 1800's looking. I
have printed off all of the ones that I feel may be useful when I get back to
the 1700's. I have COWAN, ROBERTSON, STEVENSON, BORTHWICK, WADDEL, just for
openers, so hoping to make a connection.
Thanks again for sharing.

Thanks for that Lorraine I forgot about the West Lothian List. Most of the
family tree comes from Fife, Midlothian or Ireland.
Funny enough I have a Katherine LINDSAY who married Robert KING in Wemyss
Fife in 1739 but they were both born in Inveresk Midlothian
Thanks again

I found this baptism record in The Scarborough [ERY] Old Meeting house or
Independent chapel records on microfilm at Beverley Archives [ERY].
Catharine the daughter of Elizabeth HOLMES of Dalkeith in Mid-Lothian
Scotland (widow of John HOLMES a soldier who was slain June 1747 on the
Plain of Maestrict) was baptized Novr 9th 1747.
I'm not connected with this family but just posting this in case it will
help someone.

Hi Christine and Peter,
There is a possibility that you'll need to search through non conformist
records to find Alexander's baptism details (bearing in mind that he was a
Primitive Methodist Lay Preacher). I'm not 100% sure about the location of
these, but I'm fairly sure that non conformist records aren't held by the
GROS (General Register Office for Scotland); instead, I think they may be at
the NAS (National Archives of Scotland) see http://www.nas.gov.uk/ (but
see below).
I think I may have found
Hello Gretchen & Susan,
MANY thanks, Susan for sharing your information with all of us! I'm afraid I'm at the same stage as Gretchen; my Kilgours and Pride (Pryde) ancestors will hopefully be connected eventually to the ones you've listed. It's encouraging to see the names in that area.
Best wishes, Marcia in Oregon, USA

Bob,
Thank you for the information. I already have most of what you sent. I
think what I'm really looking for is anyone who may know more about the
McNeil side of the family. I did however find my John McNeil's parents,
John and Catherine Kerr McNeil, so I'm well on my way now.
Again thank you
Roberta

Hi
The site has exceeded it's band width. This means that it is overloaded
with people visiting it. When you have a website you pay for or are hosted
by a certain "space size" or band width. If this is exceeded by too many
people visiting at any time it can not deal with it so you get an error
message. It is remedied by buying a bigger space/band.
