Does anyone have any idea where the Hopkins that are listed in the various 1870 and 1880 censuses for Newaygo county came from in New York State? Orrin Hopkins and Truman Hopkins are in my direct line and Orrin is born in Canton, St. Lawrence, NY. I know that there is a Bertie Hopkins who has a son William. That son marries my grandmother around 1960 and in a conversation with him in 1963 he stated that he and grandma were cousins, but he didn't know exactly how.
