Shelley - How exciting. Ella is my greatgrandmother. Frankie (Frances) is
her sister. Ella went to Olivet College - she was also quite a genealogist
in her day. She was Regent of the Ypsilanti DAR Chapter in the early 1900's.

I've "rescued" an old photograph which was taken at the Crispell Studio in

I will call around and find out who runs Vermont Cemetery ---there is a sign posted with a phone number which is now unreadable. Jane --- I will keep you posted. By the way, I went looking for Seymours and did not see any near the Barkers. Of course, there is a lot of empty space behind them.

On the following listing of "W" marriages for Washtenaw Co., the first
column is labeled "Mixed". Does that mean that one partner was of mixed
heritage? If so, which one?

Thanks for any help.

Ann Marr:
The Vermont Cemetery in Sylvan Twp,
Washtenaw Co., Michigan is Association
Owned. You could check with the Chelsea
Library and someone
there could get you heading in the
correct direction to locate someone
from the association.

Does anyone know who runs Vermont Cemetery in Sylvan Twp? I stopped there not long ago and all the stones for one of my families (King) are missing. I want to find out what is going on.

Ann,
Years ago I spoke with Troy Satherwaite, the sexton at Vermont Cemetery.
Acording to him, his family had been taking care of the cemetery for a
couple of generations. I had actually gotten his number from a funeral home
in the area when I was trying to find the burial place of our William
Barker.
I too would like to know what happened to all of the stones for the King
family. Please keep me informed if you find out anything.
Thanks,
Jane Barker

It appears that you are looking at a very old listing of the marriage
records from the Michigan Marriage Index Database that has not been update
in many years. You might want to go to the website listed in our signature
block to find a much more up-to-date listing.
