Hi!
I am hopeful that someone may have access to the 1907 Minneapolis or St.
Paul City Directory and can tell me if there was a Rothschild Jewelry in
business then.
M.D. Rothschild "signed off" on a statement about Garnets for the Alaska
Garnet Mining & Manufacturing Co. for their prospectus in 1907. It looks
like his title was "_______ of Precious Gems." Sorry, the word that is blank
is not legible.
I checked HeritageQuest but cannot find much for anyone living in Minnesota
that matches "M.D. Rothschi

Hi Michelle,
He's not in the CA death index, so I doubt he died there.
What about the Vincent D Berna that Claudia found in the SSDI.. below?
Was there something that eliminated him from being the right one?

I would like to obtain a article and picture of a wedding that took place in Minneapolis on May 3 1938. Can someone advise of what papers were in circulation at that time and where I could (or if) can get microfilm numbers and order it thru interlibrary loan. I do have a copy of the article, but time has taken it's tole and it is not longer in very good shape. Unfortunately it doesn't include the name of the paper or the date it was printed.
Thank You
Jeanie
MeLani,
I believe he is the right one, but he isn't listed in the MN death index.

Hello List- I am wondering if the District Court Might have the older
marriage records that couples may have originally taken out in 1904/1905.and 1908. I
am trying to find some ancesters, these were not found by the county. I know
that older records were microfilmed by LDS, Thanks. Melodee melnsam123@aol.com
Hello,
I'm trying to find any information on my husbands God parents. We know
that Dorothy Burna was living in Minneapolis in 1991. She was in her
80's then I believe. We aren't sure if she is still alive. I searched
the MN death index for her and her husband Vince (Vincent) I know he
died in the 1980's, but neither are listed. I have no idea where he is
buried.
any help would be greatly appreciated,
Michelle

Michelle,
Ancestry has a death listed in the Soc. Security death indexes for Dorothy
Berna, born Oct 19, 1906 who died on March 19, 2003 in Minneapolis.
Vincent Berna who was born May 10, 1920 and died Jan 1990 in Minneapolis.
You should be able to find their deaths in the MN death indexes under that
spelling.

Hi!
I wanted to let everyone know that I was able to locate the South Dewey
Mining Co. Claudia's help was great because it got me to thinking...and
sometimes a new thread of thought is good!
The company was from South Dakota. I contacted the corporate divison of SD
(another suggestion) and received a prompt (!!!) response back that the
company had done business there. It must have been a short time in business
as there are only 5 pages in the file. :-) Those copies will be on their
way shortly.
Also
Michelle,
I was mistaken though, Dorothy's death would not show up on the death
indexes because she died in 2003. But there are three Vincent Berna's
listed on the SS indexes, one died in Mpls, one doesn't list place of death
and the 3rd died in WI. Possibly that's your Vincent.
Name: Vincent D. Berna
SSN: 063-14-4936
Last Residence: 55426 Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, United
States of America
Born: 10 May 1920

Claudia,
Thank you for your help. I did search for the spelling Berna. No luck.
I was told the Vincent may have died in the 1970s, but not buried in
MN. This is just one of those walls that I have to break through.

Michelle,
Are you sure of the spelling of the last name? Even though they don't show
up on the MN Death Indexes, they should show up on the SS Death indexes, and
I didn't find them listed there.
You might want to check on that spelling

Claudia,
I did find Dorothy's obit in the star tribune. She did die in 2003. It
states she was preceeded in death by husband Vincent. Her services were
held in the Minneapolis Jewish Cemetery Chapel (70 1/2 & Penn Ave S), so
my guess would be that they are both buried there. I did find a phone
number to the cemetery and I plan to call. I just hope there is someone
to answer the phone.
Thank you for your help,
Michelle

Erin,
You might try writing the MN History Center and the Hennepin County History
Museum. Possibly they would have information.
Have you viewed the Son's of Norway website?
http://vonheimlodge.homestead.com/
You might also want to contact the Norweigian-American Historical Society in
Northfield MN. http://www.naha.stolaf.edu/index.htm
Hopefully, others on the list might be of more help.
Good luck!

Hello,
Does anyone have any information on the Sons of Norway, (Vonheim, Lodge #108)? My great grandfather was a member back in the 1920's and I contacted the lodge and they have no information that far back.
Just thought I'd check with you!
Thanks,
Erin

There are many books, and several sites on the internet that might have

Would a kind soul be able to look up the South Dewey Mining Co. in the 1903
Minneapolis City Directory? I am trying to see if there might have been
other names listed with the company.
I have Anna E. Durkee listed as manager of the company located at 429 Andrus
Building. I have not been able to find any information about the company.
I have checked the libraries and with the corporate office State of
Minnesota. Suggestions on where else to check would also be appreciated.
Thank you!

Coos Bay,
HI: We recently optianed from the Hennepin
court, a copy of my grandparents marriage in
1895. Several of my extended family have
obtained copies of Marriage records from the
court back in the the late 1860's.
You might also want to take a look at the Minnesota Genealogist - Park Books
has back
copies or your library may have copies. They
printed many marriage records from several
counties from abut 1855 on.
