Very nice website. I'll go back and look further. I like to write also, but
have difficulty making the time for that. I have two fairly big houses to keep
clean. I'm very active in music - play flute and piano in bands and
orchestras both in MN and FL and that takes lot of practice. The year I retired I
went back to the U of MN and took a creative writing course along with se

I recently discovered a connection between my BROWN family of Kittson county and one of the JOHNSON families. Jacob BRUN GUSTAFSSON, also known as Nels G BROWN, a fairly well-known Kittson County resident of his time, had a half-sister named Johanna GUSTAFSDOTTER SKOG who married Martin JONSSON (JOHNSON). Martin and Johanna JOHNSON had a rather large family in Kittson County and I'm wondering if there are any of their descendants still around or if anyone on the list knows of their family. Details are below

Can you give some further information as to what part of Kittson County they
lived in? Did they own a farm? There are maps available which show farm
ownership for several times - 1912 and other. Charlise

Were they farmers? What years are you concerned with? I don't live in
Kittson County, but have gone there several times for research. Looking on a map it
doesn't seem so far from the major Minnesota metropolitan area of
Minneapolis, but it's quite a drive - a good 5 hours, probably more. I've visited the
Kittson County Museum to look at cemetary and other records. I have a map
showing farm ownership of individual plots in 1912, I think. The Minnesota
History Center has all the citizenship recor

Hi !
Thank you for a prompt response ! Both Carl & Eric were carpenters, Eric arriving in USA 1911, Carl don't know. My current concern is simply to contact descendants to share info with. One day would like to get to the USA again and visit all these places.

Hi All
I am related via Swedes to the following Kittson County personages:
Erick W SANDAHL(1891-1978)
Carl R F SANDAHL(1893-1991)
Florence E (Sandahl) VIK(1914-2003)
Gordon E SANDAHL(1923-2004).
I have identified SANDAHL. KOHOUT, PENNER, CUMMINS & SIMMONS descendants, but have been unable to contact any of them (I live in Australia). Does anyone on the list who lives in Kittson know any candidates for descendants that they would be willing to approach & ask to contact me ?
Regards
John Killip
A relative distant relative of mine is married to a son of Carl Sandahl from

Hello veterans and newbies of the rootsweb.
There are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are 259 prisoners on record from the state of Minnesota and more than 100 who died here, I thought I would send my offer. I feel the need to say I am not in anyway trying to focus on the horrors o
