There was an article in the French Canadian and Acadian Genealogical Review
(Vol. 1 Number 1), dealing with the origins of the Hains family. It explains
that the Hains brothers were captured in a raid and taken to Quebec at the ages
of 12 and 7. Based on the article, the reference to criminals seems to be
mistaken.

1995! Grand Forks is in Grand Forks County, and am sure you can send it
to the County Court House there. You might also try the North Dakota
Department of Health, 600 E. Boulevard Avenue, Bismarck, ND, 58505-0200.
