take my pictures either this week or next!

Wayne,
You are so right that is why I had put the pictures of Proctor on the
internet. I am working on finding that special person to help me with
the first clean up. I live 7 hours away. I think I am finding people
who if I called them they they could go check on it. But they are in
the age bracket they they can not do it.
I was shocked when the farmer next door told me it had not been mowed
in 3 years . I was even more shocked when Orlena found out there was
money for it to be mowed., I think I r
And I noticed that you said he watched them remove the stones, but you
didn't mention that they excavated. Removing stones and excavating is one
thing, but just plowing down the stones and doing whatever to the land, that
always gets me.
But, of course, if you travel down the interstate, you might be amazed at
how many settlers are buried out your car window. After the wooden crosses
are gone, you never know where exactly ggggreat uncle George was buried.
Back in the 1700's when the wooden cross was pla
The way Uncle talked they just removed the stones and started making the
park.
You are right, there might be someone buried in our yard. When people died
years ago they had to bury them where they were.
What gets to me is that a cemetery is established with stones and they take
the stones away and use the land.
About a quarter mile from our house in some woods there is a small grave
yard. I have forgotten what the name was on one of the stones. It has been
about 5 yr since I have went there as the way to

think is bad then you have to have to have a double Smith line . My

You will have to know the county he died in and send to Jefferson City, MO
for that certificate. The newspaper of the area he died might have the
obit, but you didn't give enough information.

Maybe we should all send letters to the Atorney General for Missouri Jay Nixon to inform him that there are property owners who are breaking Missouri Law . Also I don't know much about statute of limitations on these lews but I think that Harrison County property owner who tore out tombstones is liable for prosecution.

This cemetery was about 50 miles farther west and may have been in the
Marysville area the Lady said only Parson where buried there. ( I think
that was the name ) You do not have to look for it for me as I am not
going out to look for it again and try to save it . It is gone and I
can not save it.
You just reminded me of something . I had that Cemetery maked on a map

I have to take time and remark the new map so others in my
My late husband has a great grandfather and great grandmother buried in Blue Ridge, in Harrison County, Some one sent me pictures of their tombstones. The pictures were taken a few years back but I was under the impression that the cemetary was being maintained.

At least if you had the sheriff's deputy as a witness, and then if you went
back later and the cemetery was gone, you would have a credible witness!

I am setting her with tears over all the information you have come up
with today. I know I will gladly give some thing toward keeping this
cemetery looking better and will gladly drive the 7 hours to be there
that first time it is cleaned off .
I went looking for this cemetery because some one else wanted pictures
of his grandfathers grave. Now that I found it I feel that some thing
has to be done
Here are a few pictures I took before I gave up. It was so hard to find

As several of you know, I have been seeking for 30+ years the grave of George N. Goldsberry who died on 4th St. between Delaware and Wyandotte Sts in Kansas City on 22 Apr 1899. He had been a "homeless wanderer", but had been confined to the hospital for pneumonia. He was released from the Hospital on Sat Apr 22 and died of a massive heart attack as he walked from the hospital. The police and Coroner only knew who he was by the prescription that was in his pocket containing his name. One of George's
Hello:
I am looking for 'any' information on Thomas M. JACKSON born 18 Feb 1847 in Missouri., and his wife Mary (McELHANY) JACKSON (daughter of E. Lazarus McELHANY). Thomas and Mary were married on 11 Nov 1876 (no location known). Thomas died 29 Aug 1929 (again no location) and Mary passed away 7 Aug 1926.
Thomas was possibly the son of Andrew JACKSON (formerly of Kentucky) and his wife Catharine, born in MO., both born about 1816/1818.
It is a possibility also that Thomas was a Methodist Minister in S
In the old days, family could be buried on their own land, it wasn't deeded as a cemetery.
When it was deeded as a cemetery, it obviously should have remained a cementery. Private cemeteries apparently had different rules. Unfortunately, the later owners often refused new burials or markers added to old burials and proceded to return it to pasture or farming ground.
I've never tried it, however I don't doubt that some people do have the gift. I've seen newspaper articles about people who do it. As I r

You have every right to visit your family burying ground even on private
land.

We have a lot of unattended cemeteries in Phelps County. No one is willing
to take the time to clean them up. There is one that I am going to try and
visit near Rolla Mo. that the people have piled brush on top of and refuse
to let any one on. I will take the sheriff with me when I go.
I have catalogued quite a few cemeteries in Phelps County. We have yet to
be turned dow

Dear MO-CEMETERIES Listers,
First I would like to compliment Orlena for her speedy, comprehensive,
direct, concise, and accurate evaluation of a reported problem with a
cemetery in Missouri.
Unfortunately this problem exists in ALL counties of the State of Missouri
and I doubt that any one is better or worse than another. Missouri law
really fails to address the problem of the abandoned and neglected
cemeteries of the state. The problem is not limited to family cemeteries
It would be great to see Old Salem Cemetery photos posted at findagrave.com
its FREE and others can see them as well. A great research tool.

in that cemetery)
