Want to let everyone know that the Scout Troop from Stockton, MO did a
tremendous job in clearing the brush etc. in the "Brown/Blair Cemetery" at
Aldrich, MO. There is much more to do but this was a real start. We made a
small donation to the troop and have asked the Scout Master to consider
making this an annual project. He will submit the idea to the Council for
consideration. Thanks to ALL who assisted on getting this effort in motion.

I am glad to know this about abandoned cemeteries. I had not heard of
it. It is great what Annie Smith is doing. Possibly others will do the
same
if they come across an abandoned cemetery.

TO MARTHA MATHENA -
I AM IN BLAIR, WASHINGTON COUNTY, NEBRASKA. A LITTLE CEMETARY CALLED "BREWSTER CEMETARY ALSO KNOWN AS "THE LONE PINE CEMETARY" A LONG FORGOTTEN PIONEER CEMETARY - LEFT TO THE ELEMENTS. IT WAS NAMED BY ISRAEL SWIHART FOR HIS WIFE MARY BREWSTER. A NEW NEIGHBOR ANNIE SMITH BECAME INTERESTED IN THE CEMETARY AND INQUIRED ABOUT IMPROVEMENT. SHE FOUND THAT COUNTIES HAVE AN ANNUAL FEE THAT CAN BE PAID TO A PERSON WILLING TO MAINTAIN ABANDONED CEMETARIES. SHE ALSO FOUND THAT SHE

There may have been more than one Scout Troup involved in the cemetery clean
up effort. We will make some contacts, and try to determine where donations
can be sent. We gave the Brown/Blair Cemetery our attention, because of our
own interest there. Our hope is that other troops were involved, at other
locations, and if so, those efforts need also be recognized, and encouraged.

Can someone help me gather a list of St. Louis City/County cemeteries with
the name St. Peter that existed ca. 1892? I already have the one on Lucas &
Hunt and the catholic one in Kirkwood. There must have been others with a
name like that.
