Technology does have a portable scanner if you have a laptop to attach it
to. I use my laptop and scanner all the time on trips. The scanner
attaches to the laptop and doesn't need its own power source. They both fit
into my laptop case.
To use a scanner without a laptop, you need a hard drive or other storage
attached to the scanner.
