2. [MO-CW] Here's where the desired Civil WAr Amnesty and Pardon Records of 1863 - 67 rest..... [1]
This is microfilm with all the Civil War amnesty and pardon records below information with (**** before it). I just have to figure out which roll it is on...if you can be patient with me, I'll find it...then, you can go to your nearest and dearest family history center or buy the rolls yourself...but the question will be HOW MANY ROLLS ARE THERE!!!! Remember, when our national archives was accumulating all this information, there weren't any (secretaries) administrative assistances as they are called to

4. RE: [MO-CW] Re: MO-CW-D Digest V01 #65 [1]
Barbara, Instead of ordering the info from NARA, you might want to check your local LDS History Center. You can order microfilm from them for 3.50 p/roll and the copying varies per library, mine is 30cents p/sheet. Might be cheaper to do it this way instead of through NARA. Just letting you know. Ted, I thought you and any other interested parties might like to know that Broadfoot Books of Wilmington, N.C. nows offers a Civil War research service: http://broadfoot.wilmington.net/ResearchServices.htm. They say that they can provide Compiled Service Records, Name Lists, Unit Records, and Pension Records for Union and Confederate soldiers. I have not used this research service, but I have been ordering Broadfoot books for my library for years, and the company is a class act, using acid-free pap

Tom is correct. I have used Broadfoot to obtain Compiled Military Service Records. They are prompt and thorough. They provide high quality copies. I do not know what their prices are now but I paid, I believe, $29.95 for the CMSR for one soldier. At the time, it was more expensive than NARA, but it was much, much faster. 16. [MO-CW] the # '2211' as reference to Civil War Service ? [1]
Does anyone have any suggestions about what this inscription on my great-grandfather's gravestone could be referring to: "2211 Lexington" Apparently there was more to the inscription but it was no longer legible. I have not actually seen the gravestone. This information was hand-written by my father back in the 1970's. So there is a possibility that the '2211' might not be one continuous number. My great-grandfather James Riggin was born in 1821 in Madison County, Illinois and died in Chariton Coun

18. [MO-CW] Books in Print and Internet Databases for those Looking for Missouri [1]
When surfing I ran across a book in print concerning death records of Missouri Men. Well, here's what I found the further I went!! DeSoto Joe , I had written to you once before regarding my ggg-grandfather John E. Brockman who died while in the Union Army camp in Rolla, Phelps CO, MO. I haven't been able to find his grave anywhere, I have his pension record and all that it gives is his pension info. 20. Re: [MO-CW] George STOUT buried in St. Louis [1]
Ted: During the period of March/April, 1863, many of Sherman's and Grant's regiments were camped on the Louisiana side of the Mississippi River across from Vicksburg at places like Millikin's Bend and Young's Point. Many were employed digging a canal in a failed attempt to cut off the big hairpin curve in the river. Conditions were terrible for the soldiers both at the canal and in their camps. They were camped on wet, swampy bottomlands. The lucky regiments were able to camp on levees. Disease ran ra
21. [MO-CW] George STOUT buried in St. Louis [1]
Hi I have been waiting for months for the National Archives to send info on George Stout, my great grandfather's brother, who served in the 67th Indiana Infantry Co. D. In Volume X of the Rolls of Honor, it says he is: "2665 Stout, George pvt. 67th IN Co. D died March 16, 1863. It just says St. Louis but does not identify the cemetery. Would this be at Jefferson Barracks? George's regiment took part in the Battle of Arkansas Post in January 1863 and then were at Milliken's Bend on the Louisiana side
