For anyone who did not receive my previous message, I can look up death
certificates in Ohio for Dec 1908-1944. There are also some earlier records
for certain counties. The Ohio Historical Society has a great website at
www.ohiohistory.org. There is an index of deaths from 1913-1937. I can get
copies for $1 each if you know the dates of death. Email me for more
information at donkerduz@yahoo.com

Another question in reference to Levi KENNEDY...I have the $14.95 packet of
papers from NARA for Levi as I wanted to make certain this was my ancestor.
His *real* name was James Levi KENNEDY...don't know why he enlisted as Levi
M. KENNEDY. He was 15 years old at the time he enlisted, in Hancock Co.,
Indiana. Would NARA have the pension papers for him...he did receive a
pension, according to the info they sent. However, for another CW ancestor,
I ended up having to send to Indianapolis for a hugh p

The history lesson of the great list was interesting. I suspect most
of our ancestors were the same as our soldiers that are risking their
lives today in a foreign land. They, unless they lived near a state
border, had little choice who or what, right?
Our country staid UNITED and lets celebrate it today........Liv

I am *still* trying to find background info on Levi KENNEDY and wonder why he
would enlist in Indiana and end up as a soldier serving for MO. His papers
mention that he was "absent detached to serve in 1" MO. Batty. He was also

If a grave has an incription that just lists the name and a Civil War unit,
has it been put up by an organization? If so, how would I find out who put
it up?

Thanks to each of you who helped getting me started in my research for Eugene W. Tribble. I sent to Missouri State Archives for a copy of his Pension file and application to Higginsville Veterans Home and also his Service card. I requested these documents through their email address. They responded via email that I might need to allow for up to 8 weeks for a response to the inquiry.
In the meantime, can you help me to find information on his unit (MO 6th Infantry, Company C) and which battles they fough

Copeland is mentioned, 'Copeland,___. A Lieutenant killed near Poplar Bluff,

Thanks for the reply, Jim. I am truly surprised at the lack of a regimental
