Hi Judy!
A couple of my great-granduncles served in the 8th Missouri Infantry, CSA.
You can find thumbnail regimental histories and rosters on the Civil War
Soldiers and Sailors web site operated by the National Park Service. The
URL is http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/regiments.cfm for the unit my folks were
in but you should be aware that there were 4 different units designated the
8th. Additionally, there were Federal units designated the 8th Missouri
Infantry also.
Google will return a considerable number

I've been searching without success for a service and pension record for
my gr grandfather, and I'm wondering if someone familiar with the Civil
War enlistment patterns can help me figure out where he would have gone
to enlist.
Charles W. WELLS, 28, a carriage maker, is shown on the 1860 Union
District, Dunklin County, West Prairie P.O., MO census which was
enumerated on June 15, 1860. He and his family lived in dwelling 44.
No monetary value is listed for this dwelling and so I'm thin

Try this one (doesn't show all who served). There are several specific MO Civil War Record sites but my mind isn't working well tonite and I don't seem to have bookmarked them. Try a search for Missouri in the civil war and see if you come up with anything. I know there is a Missouri Confederate Soldier site somewhere. Good Luck.

PS this came up on the Civil War soldier and sailor site I listed earlier under a search for just the name Johnson, Confederate and state MO - there are many many Johnsons. You can likely order the records from the MO archieves or the National Archives in D.C.

Can anybody tell me if there are service/burial records for the men who
served in the 8th MO Infantry, CSA? Several members of my Johnson family served in
that group.
Does somebody have info on where to start looking for records, or are they
even available??
Many thanks, Judy in TX
