Not sure this is the same Benjamin & Elizabeth, but ages would be right for 1955 marriage + in marriage records following, there was both your Benjamin and probably his brother William both marrying Devault girls, a few days apart. 1850 printed Andrew Co MO Census: #36 DEWALT: Thomas 45 M Ohio Mary 44 F Ohio Elizabeth 17 F Ohio Rachel 14 F Ohio
3. Re: [MOAndrew] Marriage lookup [1]
Noticed the names of the people you were seeking marriage for. This is not the marriage, but looks like your folks plus maybe their kinfolk, etc. burials. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bryant/cemeteries/Payne_Cemetery_MO .html Partial Listing Payne Cemetery Map Payne Cemetery, Grover Township, Johnson County, Missouri ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Barnett, Bess Abitha Delania (Hall) 25-Jul-1882 09-Mar-1959 ??-Mar-1959 h/o Abraham

6. [MOAndrew] Howell - Myers - Cason [1]
If any of you know anything about any of these surnames in Andrew Co., MO, I'd be so happy to hear from you! I am especially trying to discover the parents of my 3g-grandmother, Lutitia Myers, who married Payton Howell on December 25, 1844 in Andrew County. I believe she died before 1850, as the 1850 census shows Payton married to a Margaret. Payton Howell was the son of James Howell and Agnes Cason. Thank you, Diane Midkiff favor2u@comcast.net

Holt Mansion (Daily Farm): Does anyone know if they have run an article in the Newspaper about the Mansion. I had been told that they were planning on running the history of the farm sometime this summer. My father lived there as a young boy when his granduncle Charles Daily owned the farm. Darrell Holt
9. Re: [MOAndrew] marriage records-1841- 1915 [1]
Gem and others, It's been my experience that the early marriage records of Andrew Co. (which I've looked at in the courthouse) only give the parents' names if the parties were underage. Monica I was wondering if the film | might contain the names of their parents. | | Thanks, | Gem | Benjamin Tracy married Elizabeth Devault on 11 Jan 1855, Andrew | Co., MO

12. [MOAndrew] Searching from England for family member - 1864 [1]
I am trying to trace the fate of my 3x great uncle Jesse Hall. He was born in 1836 in Shipley, Yorkshire, UK and he is recorded at Shipley in the 1851 UK Census. Our family grave, at Shipley Bethel Baptist Church, simply records that he died in 1864 'in America'. I searched the 1860 US census and found only one Jesse Hall from England. His age was 24 - correct for 'my' Jesse and he was recorded as a house carpenter in Jefferson Township, Andrew County, Missouri. I am trying to find as much about him as I
13. Re: [MOANDREW] Clay Township? [1]
Hello: Clay Township is the most northwestern township of the 10 townships of Andrew County. There are no incorporated settlements in Clay Township. Hope this helps you! Hi, Marian, I'll reply to the whole list, as others might have some better ideas, or might be interested. There are very few early birth records in northwest Missouri. (My knowledge doesn't extend to Chariton Co., though.) Probably the only "official" type records would be if a local doctor kept lists of babies delivered, or church baptism/christening records. There weren't any government agencies keeping track of births that early. Though part of rural St. Joseph is part of Andrew Co., the city itsel

You can also check the little map at the PACT site (Photograph Andrew County Tombstones). http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~moacc/maps/countymap.htm It's simple, but it gives an overview of the county. Monica

Hi Leon, The best way to check out things like that is to goggle "Clay County Missiouri wikipedia" and VOILA, it appears! Hi, Kathie, and thinks for chiming into this discussion. I know there have been generous listings of old newspapers on this list (thanks, Monica!) but I've had no reason to check them out until now. Appreciate your mentioning it, because I wouldn't have thought of it. I will start digging into those records tomorrow. I do recall, and not long ago, seeing records of wagon trains leaving from MO for points west, and with passenger lists! It was before I became involved in the friend's DAR membersh
18. Re: [MOANDREW] Finding old birth records [1]
Hi Marian, Well, the name Moore caught my eye. I have a F. M. Moore in my database. Married into my McGee/Mitchell line in Clinton County, Ohio. And lots of my Clinton County people wandered over to Andrew and Scotland Counties, Missouri about 1840ish. Here are my notes on the Moores: 1. Relatives possibly in Grundy County, Missouri - 1930 Platt of Trenton, Grundy County at http://digital.library.umsystem.edu/cgi/i/image/image-idx?sid=3e3150b9336fc0264d97af0689b6ab1f&med=1&q1=platic&rgn1=platic_all&c
19. Re: [MOANDREW] Finding old birth records [1]
Thanks, Monica, you've given me a couple of clues, and also confirmed what I suspected, that no part of St Joseph lies in Jackson Co. (I actually grew up in K.C. but had no knowledge of Missouri north of that city. Even though my Mom had relatives in St. Joseph, there was no contact by the time I was old enough to be aware of assorted aunts, uncles and cousins.) I found a Margaret Moore, age 10, in the 1850 census for Weston, Platte Co., but by then the Margaret I was searching for had departed (184

Anyone who might be interested in the Joseph Carson family, early settlers of Andrew County, will want to check out new pictures at the Photograph Andrew County Tombstones (PACT) site, http://www.rootsweb.com/~moacc/ under "Carson Burial Ground." While digging in a field, a local man found the tombstones of Margaret (Mrs. Joseph) Carson and her daughter, Elizabeth. The PACT volunteers were contacted, and they carefully photographed the stones. The landowner says that the tombstones (though broken) will b

Hi Monica and Marian, Did that part of Missouri have newspapers at that time? Often it was news when people left to go to CA and it was published in the local papers. Monica: just the person I wanted to "talk" to! Thought you just the person to provide directions on how to solve this problem. Am looking for information on a Margaret Frances Moore b. 20 June 1840 in St. Joseph, Andrew Co., MO. Her parents were Huston Moore b. 1819, St. Joseph, Jackson Co. (?), MO, and Thursa Velma Miller b. 1824, also St. Joseph, Jackson (?), MO. Thursda died on the midwest plains travelling from MO to CA.
