Hi, Donna,
I think Mary Jane must have been the sister-in-law of your Fannie. Fannie
was the daughter of Lewis & Eliza(beth) (George) Proffitt, and George
Washington P. was their son. I think the Mary Jane I'm looking for was the
2nd wife of George Washington P. It's an extensive family, and a lot of
them are buried at Fillmore Cemetery. Tombstones can be seen on-line at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~moacc/
Thanks for the hint, as it spurred me to do some census research.

Thanks, Nelrose.
I found out that this branch of Proffits is not the one in Ray Co., but it's
nice to know where it is!

Hi Monica,
Could your Mary Jane Proffitt be relation to Fannie V. Proffitt that married
Francisco Hal Stafford son of Samuel Blair Stafford my great-grandfather?
They were from Holt County.

Monica,
I am going to send you an invite to my online family tree on ancestry.com.
It may help you. I have alot of info on it. I am still tryiing to find a
minimum of three verifications for each individual listed.
Pam
I am the 2 x great granddaughter of William Wesley Simerly of Fillmore,
Andrew County, Missouri and Charles Killin (Killen or Killian). I have alot of
information on the ancestors of the Simerly side but very little on Charles and
Thirsa Killin. there is a International Marriage record that they were
married in Missouri but I can not find anything else about it. If anyone has
information please post a note and I will contact you.
Thanks, Pam
Monica,
I too beleive Charles was married before. I also think Robert and William
had a different mother. There is an age gap between them and Samuel b 1848. You
found them in Iowa in the 1900's? I will check Buchanan County but I think
they were married before 1848.
I just sent you an email.
Thanks, Pam
Hi, Pam,
Saw your message on the List. Maybe you can tell me if R. & William were
the sons of Thirza? (They're on the 1860 census with the family.) If so,
I'd think it unlikely that Charles and Thirza were married in Missouri, as
those boys were born in Ohio. However, if she were a second wife, I'd be
looking in Buchanan Co., MO for the marriage, if I were you, as that's where
they were in 1860. Later they lived in Iowa, then Andrew co., MO.
If you want more of what I might have, let me know, th
Hi again, Pam,
I'm back at my main address (in case you get confused and think I have a
multiple personality!
I was just trying to research Mary Jane Proffit, whom I mentioned in my last
email from my gmail address. I found her death certificate. She died in
Holt Co. (By the way, if you haven't used the Missouri Archives site,
you're in for a treat:
http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/birthdeath/Default.asp )
Anyway, I can't see her certificate's details, as 1940 isn't yet available.
