I find it so interesting that, as small as this area is, there are so many
surnames and how so few of these posts have no names in common!

Genealogists never die, they just loose their roots
Bob, I made the distinction of SR and JR because 'SR's son, Alonzo,
named his son William as well... Actually, it was William Edward, but I
don't know if old man William's middle name was Edward or not.. so
until I do, I put 'SR' and "JR" there to help me make the difference
when looking.
I haven't followed the research on census for them, since I'm not
researching WARD, but here's what I have on old man:

Yes, part of the 'perks' of being a member of the Daviess County
Genealogical Society, is having the quarterly Newsletter which is
filled with info not found on the internet. Since this is Jan., we are
allowing people to join for 6 months at $10. Then in June, the renewal
is $20 for the household for the year.

Just a reminder, that Missouri has death certificates online for the
years 1911-1957. Since Daviess County is next to Livingston, Harrison
and Grundy, you will want to check those counties as well if you can't
find yours in Daviess. If they died in the hospital in Trenton, thats
Grundy. If they died at Bethany, that Harrison; if they died at
Chillicothe, that Livingston.. Course, there's also Cameron, and that's
Dekalb. Also, don't be afraid to be creative.....switch the first and
middle names around
I'm Vanette Hamilton in Columbia, MO:
My families include primarily GALPIN, JONES, NATION(S), PLACE; and ones they
married into:
Culver, Lindsey, Love, Marsh, McBrayer, McCrary, Pollard (from Caldwell
County), Splawn, Swisher, Whitt, and many many more, including a couple of
Ramsbottoms and Creekmores and a Wormsley or two. :-)
Oops, forgot the TARWATERS.
Findagarve.com lists one Lloyd Mallory buried Oct. 22, 1981 in Sherman
County, KS. But there is no birth date. I guess that is a place to look
further.

Thanks Lanita,
Yes, Lloyd abandoned Gladys and daughter Jessie Maxine in Illinois. I
have Gladys's divorce papers dated 10 Mar 1923 served on Lloyd in Gentry
County. After 1 Aug 1923 when Lloyd and Iva were married in
Pattonsburg....they just disappeared. Maybe I'll find them when the
1940 census is available...

I'm Richard Sanders in California.
I am searching for my uncle, Lloyd Mallory, born 1899 near Pattonsburg.
In 1919 he married Gladys Higdon from McFall, Gentry County. That
marriage soon ended in divorce. Then in 1923 he married Iva Mae Brinnen
in Pattonsburg. That marriage license was signed by "Dora Brinnen -
mother". Lloyd was estranged from the Mallory family, and there is no
trace of him after the 1923 marriage to Iva Mae Brinnen. Any help
finding Lloyd and Iva Mae would be wonderful.
I have an articule on James W Ward and his wife Mary in 1902 on their 60th
wedding anniversary. His wife was Mary George.

Sl. And the 1860, 1870, 1900, 1910, 1920 & 1930 Census data, her death
certificate and a marriage record. I am curious to whom Pearly and
Minnie belong to. In 1870 there was a ranch hand named Cooper but I
think Alice would have been too young to be Minnie's mom.
I am guessing at two children of Alice and James:
1) Grace P. born Oct. 1879
2) Olive M. born 17 Oct 1887.
I am suspicious of the 8 years between kids.
Why can't I find Grace in the 1880 census?
Pearly may have been Grace P. Davis but the bir

I am Marie Adams Gertsch, and I live in North Platte, NE - I"m researching
my dad's family both mother (Harbord, Ellis) and father ( Adams, Brown,
McCoy) and extended branches. I have always been interested in family
history and as a kid actually interviewed my grandmother with one of the 1st

My 1st visit to Daviess Co. was in the early 1980's with a cousin of my
dad's who took me to the cemeteries etc. and later another co
My name is Mark Moore and I live in Lincoln, California. The lines I am researching are EADS, RADER, SHAFFER/SCHAFFER, STILES and VARNEY in Daviess and Livingston counties. Daughters of John STILES of Livingston county married into the EADS and RADER families of Daviess counties and the VARNEY family of Livingston county and later Kansas.
Keith,
I did a book for a client on the HARTs...[I do the research and produce
the family tree books]. I didn't find the line in Daviess Co., but do
have on back from here. If you need this, let me know:

Lanita,
Thanks for the reminder regarding memberships to the Davies County
Genealogical Society. I joined the Society a few years back, but my
searching in Davies and Harrison counties is SO FAR back that there is not
much there that can be of help to me. I realize that is not your fault, nor
mine, but I did not get any benefit from joining the DCGS. I also know that
perhaps someone who is a member of the Rootsweb group might help me, but
that didn't happen, either. I've been to Daviess County, visited
I guess I didn't know about the Resource Center! Where is it located and

I am Donna from Oregon. I am researching Lewis D. Shaffer (abt 1921- 1886) who moved to Daviess Co. Missouri by 1880 with some of his children. He married Emily J. (Thompson) Hendrix in Daviess Co. in 1883 as his 3rd wife. He lived in the Bancrof area and some of his descendants moved into the Harrison Co. MO. area. Children coming with him included, John, Lewis, Thomas, Robert and Ella. Thomas and Robert both died about 1881. Would love more information on this family.
