According to the Handy Book for Genealogists county clerks were required
to register the births and deaths from 1883 to 1893. (I transcribed for
my own self the microfilm and Cecy Rice had done it for a book which I
did not know until after I had transcribed it; I checked for Nor---- and
found none.)
After 1910 the deaths are recorded at the Bureau of Vital Records in
Jefferson City.
The book further adds that state registration began in 1865 but did not
achieve full compliance until 1911. Does not say
Kathy,
Your transcriptions of the Higbee News will be greatly missed. My
Granny loved the printed copies of the News...especially her birth and
marriage announcements. YOUR writings brought back so many memories for
her. I know of a few people who were looking forward the future
writings regarding the trial of Marshall Dougherty's murderer.
It is so sad when one tries to make family research just a little easier
and then to have someone like Jere Duncan destroy it out of stupidity.

This is a letter of complaint on behalf of a fellow researcher, Kathy Bowlin. Kathy has worked tirelessly for the last 5 years extracting articles of interest from the Higbee, MO newspapers and posting them weekly to the appropriate sites for Randolph, Boone, and Howard Co., Missouri. Every single posting has a "Copyright" Disclaimer. It has come to Kathy's attention that Yellowstone Genealogy Forum; specifically, Jere Duncan has taken her work and posted to the Yellowstone site. Hello all...
Kathy knows that we are behind her 100% and that we understand how she
feels and do not blame her one bit...
I have heard horror stories like this from other Rootsweb websites that
I belong to, and in fact I have had my work taken by my own cousins,
posted on Ancestry, and then they didn't even post it correctly... they
made it garbage...
We were so blessed with Kathy's postings of the everyday lives of our
Missouri families...She made them real with letting us read about them
from the newsp
Wonderful news, and I trust this means we can look forward to Kathy's Higbee

happened and your apology. I'm just happy to hear it is resolved, as we all love
Kathy and the wonderful work she has done.

To those of you who were unaware of it, The Missouri State Genealogical Association Journal, starting with their first journal of
2004, is printing the minutes of the church mentioned in the subject line of this email. It looks like it is going to be in 4
installments, probably through the entire year of 2004. Robert M. Doerr transcribed the records. Many of you may know Bob. He's
done a wealth of transcriptions of Missouri records over the years.

I am going to comment on the above remarks. Although I don't think it is
necessary to do so, I will appoligize to the list. Back in 2000 or 2001 I
obtained permission from Kathy as did the Yellowstone Genealogical Society to copy
these articles and make them available to people who may not have internet
access in my local area. We have a written copy of the permission Kathy gave us to
do this. My intention was to copy and paste these onto a floppy disk so they

Dear Kathy -
I am a part-time genealogist and don't contribute to the list as often as I
would like, but I NEVER miss your transcriptions! I look forward to
receiving them and get a laugh and a chuckle out of many that don't even
pertain to my line. We can look at birth and death records until our faces
turn blue, but finding out who ate dinner with whom, and who tripped over a
fence and broke their nose brings our ancestors alive. There is no

Carolyn & Laura:
Thank you so much for your information.
Nordmeyer has also been written as Nardmeyer-a hard to read name at times.
Charles(we believe it is Karl in Germany)J. had with his first wife a John that I found in the 1900 census in WA state-family lost track of him when he came west. My Louis was the last child of Elizabeth. The second wife bore Charles P. and Elizabeth(who married Monnig). Charles P.s' wife was from Switzerland. Hello my friends,
I am forwarding the answer that I got from Rootweb along to this list. After reading the callous disregard that this
company shows for the time and effort put into years of work, I hope you will all understand why I will no longer submit my
transcriptions of the Higbee News to these forums. I caution you all to be wary or anything that you put into an email at these
sites. You apparently do not own your emails, even though my interpretation of the copyright laws state that you
Once again I will appologize to all. In the beginning I did write to Kathy,
but perhaps I didn't explain myself very well. I had intended to and did
paste and copy Kathy's articles onto floppys, then gave them to a member in the
YGF. In turn, someone thought it would be helpful to put them on the website of
YGF so everyone could read them. I again wrote Kathy as did one of our
members. She gave persmission for us to do that which was on file (and still is)
so we went ahead with this. My name sho
