Hello, I could use some guidance please. I just received the Military
Packet of my gggrandfather Henry L. Fabrique Mauck (Fabrick Mauck) who was
in the Co. K. 2nd Missouri S.M. Cav. as a Private. These papers say that he
died Dec. 9, 1864 at the Post Hospital in Ironton, Mo. of Small Pox. They
state he is buried in the Ironton Cemetery as Fabrick Mouck or Mauck or
Maucke. Can anyone tell me more about the Post Hosp. and the cemetery that
would have been called Ironton Cemetery? I have not been able to

A historic town in Scott County, Missouri.
Located in the northeastern portion of the county near the Mississippi.
This small community arose when the railroad built a bridge across the
Mississippi River to the town. The name combines the first three letters
of the name Illinois and the first two letters of the name Missouri.
Found it on USGS-GNIS. A great site to keep handy.

Was this State Militia?
Was the Captains name given? I show, from The History of SE Missouri by
Douglass (not Goodspeed), page 352:
The Second MO Calvary (confederate).. was one of the most famous of the
confederate regiments in the SE mo area.
Your fellah is not mentioned in this book.
Marge
Note the above was not a state Militia.. it was a confederate regiment
