Please can you ask Pauline if she remembers any of the Flemings from Pineville. My mother was one of three daughters born to Claude and Frances Fleming. Her name was Claudia Fleming and she was born May 11, 1911 in Pineville. She had two sisters. One named Mary, and one named Joan. Grandfather Claude's father (William Henry Fleming) and his second wife Ledora Combs Fleming (nee Timmons?) owned and operated a local resort called "Riverside Inn" or Riverside Farm Inn around Elk Springs. There are still vesti

The local writer is Pauline Carnell. She is still writing each week and I think she turned 98 this March. She is not on line, but if you have a request I can contact her for you. I also know members of the Cleveland and Stephens families, but am not familiar with the names you mentioned. Did they live in Jane? The ones I know live in Pineville and Anderson areas. 16. Re: [McDon'ld] Tax Records [1]
The tax records for McDonald Co. for the year 1861 are in Goodspeed's History 1888. I plan to transcribe them for this list, but don't have time today. It isn't long, so will try to tackle it soon. Other county records were destroyed in that "late unpleasantness" and don't resume until late 1860's, early 1870's. I don't know what still exists. Perhaps others will know more. Hello List ~ I am hoping someone is familiar with this family or has suggestions for me to unravel this story! Here goes (briefly, I hope): Columbus Green CARTER (went by Green CARTER) was convicted of 2nd degree murder in McDonald County May 1876. Believe the murder may have taken place in Frebruary. He was sent to the penitentiary in Jefferson City and was pardoned by the governor in 1887. At the time of his conviction, he was married to Martha Ann THARP CARTER (she'd been widowed in her marriage to

I am researching the Irason TAYLOR (Jr.) family of Morgan Co., IN, and Edgar, Clark and Coles Counties, IL. Irason was born in 1813 in VA and died after 1880 (possibly in Coles Co., IL), or after 1887 as "Bro I TAYLOR" is mentioned in the Clarksville Baptist Church business minutes of the "Saturday before the 3rd Sunday in April 1887." He is the son of Irason Taylor (Sr.) and Rosanna (maiden name?) of Maine (his parents' names are on his 1879 marriage license, and Maine, according to the 1880 Coles Co.,
