I am looking for William Tate, born about 1823 in Virginia. He married Hettie ?. They had five children - Abigail, Martha, John Elias, Jephtha Edgel and Delitha - all born in Missouri. I have found him on the 1860 census and that's it. Hettie is listed as being a widow in the 1870 census.
Any help is gratefully appreciated.
Joan Tate

I thought you all might like to know that you might be able to find some of
your ancestors or relatives that passed away in Missouri.
This information came from the site I am going to be adding afterwards;
Death certificates contain valuable information for family historians and
researchers. The Missouri Death Certificate Database, containing deat
h records created after 1910 and over 50 years old, makes that information
available online through a searchable index that links to a digitized image

Hello all,
This past Sept I visited the State Archives looking for Civil War info, such
as regiments and rosters of soldiers from various counties. I found out
there were a number of people from Missouri as well as from neighboring
states that served in the Missouri Militia (1865-66) [Post Civil War]. There
are index books as well as more detailed info on microfilm. I never thought
my great-great-grandfather would have served with the Missouri Militia as he
had been an Iowa Resident for a number of y

I thought the same thing about how helpful it would be
if the other states did like Missouri. This should generate
money for the State, if people order the records at $1.00
each. People will probably order more than one. I have several
I am sending after.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if more states took Missouri's lead and made this
information available online.
In addition to archive staff, almost 600 volunteers across the country
worked on this project for many months. I'm sure other states would have
the same response if they only asked.
I'm sure looking forward to the remaining images being added.
